Bellator and WSOF Veteran Alexis Vila Arrested on Murder Charge

Bellator and World Series of Fighting veteran Alexis Vila is in a Miami-Dade County jail in Florida, charged with murder.

The 47-year-old Vila, according to Miami-Dade records, was arrested on April 17 and is being held without bond on a charge of 2nd Degree Murder. The Cuban is also being held for immigration.

Vila hasn’t set foot in a cage since he defeated Jorge Calvo Martin at Titan FC 40 in August of 2016. His overall professional record stands at 15-7. It has been several years since he fought for Bellator, but the American Top Team fighter holds victories over the likes of former Bellator champion Joe Warren and Marcos Galvao.

Prior to fighting, Vila was a two-time world champion wrestler and represented Cuba in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga. Vila took home a bronze medal in freestyle wrestling in the Olympics.
