The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced on Monday that the light heavyweight bout between contenders Anthony Johnson and Glover Teixeira, originally scheduled for July 23, will now be the UFC 202 co-main event on August 20.
UFC 202 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by the highly anticipated rematch between featherweight champion Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. The Johnson and Teixeira bout was postponed from July until August when Johnson was forced to withdraw to tend to a serious family matter.
Also announced for the Aug. 20 fight card was a welterweight matchup between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Rick Story. Cerrone, a longtime contender in the lightweight division, has reeled off back-to-back wins in the 170-pound weight class with Performance of the Night finishes of Alex Oliveira and Patrick Cote. Story is riding a three-fight winning streak and is currently ranked 9th in the welterweight division. He last fought in May, defeating Tarec Saffiedine by unanimous decision.
