At first he was facing a six-month suspension for injury, but Andrei Arlovski is apparently ready to go in half the time.
Following his UFC 191 win over Frank Mir, Arlovski told Submission Radio that concerns over a broken right hand were nothing to worry about. “The Pit Bull” said he’ll be ready to go by the end of the year or beginning of next.
“Everything’s okay. I saw the doctor today, a couple of hours ago, and it’s just bruised and that’s it,” Arlovski told Submission Radio. “Nothing’s injured bad. I’m not seriously injured or some broken bones or something. It’s just a bruise. I’m not gonna start [training] earlier than October because obviously I wanna have to rest. After that it’s up to the UFC. I’m ready to fight around December, January.”
“I’m disappointed because I didn’t expect Frank could go three hard rounds with me,” said Arlovski at UFC 191, while shaking his head. “I’m disappointed that I underestimated him.”
“I felt that it was going to be an easy fight, and it wasn’t.”
Arlovski is now in prime position for title contention, remaining undefeated since returning to the UFC in June of last year. He has won four in a row during that span.
