Lucas Rota is a member of Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight titleholder Anderson Silva’s Killer Bees. In fact, Silva has indicated that Rota is sure to be a strong contender in the 185-pound weight class.

On Friday night, Rota will face Nabil Khatib at the Hardcore Championship Fighting event in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

“I prepared myself very well this time with my MMA coach Rodrigo Vidal, my jiu-jitsu coach Mauricio Alonso (a Ryan Gracie black belt), with Anderson Silva and all my teammates. I am going to Canada to win and represent my team and represent Brazil,” said Rota.

The Killer Bees team makes its home in Curitiba city in Brazil and is organized by former Chute Boxe athletes Vidal and Silva. The Muay Thai and MMA training are lead by Vidal and the ground game by Alonso.

Silva still lives in Curitiba, so he spends most of his time there training in the Killer Bees camp under the supervision of his Master and very good friend Diogenes Assahida, who helps to sharpen the Killer Bees’ Muay Thai skills.

Rota has signed a six-fight contract with HCF and hopes to rebound from his last fight, which he lost to Canadian fighter Andrew Buckland by decision. He faces no small task in getting on the winning track in Khatib, who brings a 6-2 record to the ring.

“In my last fight, I faced a wrestler and he was able to put me on my back and he (took me out of my) game and I got stuck on the ground. He executed his plans very well and the fight ended up by decision. It was a very boring fight, but this time will be different. I have trained for all types of games and I will win and bring the victory to my team and to Brazil,” stated Rota.
