All Female TUF 18 Participants to Fight on Finale Except Injured Shayna Baszler and Sarah Moras

November 25, 2013

Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate TUF 18 CoachesSix of the eight The Ultimate Fighter 18 female participants will fight on The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale on Nov. 6 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Shayna Baszler and Sarah Moras are injured and unable to compete.

UFC officials revealed the news on a media conference call on Monday.

Julianna Pena (4-2) advanced to the finals with wins over Baszler and Moras. She’ll face the winner of this week’s episode’s featured match-up between Raquel Pennington and Jessica Rakoczy.

Also announced on Monday, Jessamyn Duke (2-0, 1 NC) will face fellow Team Rousey teammate and TUF 18 blogger Peggy Morgan on this weekend’s fight card.

That leaves Roxanne Modafferi (15-10) facing the loser of Pennington vs. Rakoczy.

The event is headlined by former The Ultimate Fighter 5 contestants Nate Diaz and Gray Maynard. Diaz defeated Maynard by guillotine choke during that season’s semifinals.  Maynard avenged the loss, defeating Diaz by split decision on Jan. 11, 2010.  They’ll settle the trilogy this Saturday.

The card also features the TUF 18 male finals.  Chris Holdsworth faces Davey Grant to determine this season’s male winner.
