In November, Bellator MMA announced that they had signed mixed martial arts veteran Alessio Sakara to a three-fight deal. The first of those three fights takes place in Sakara’s native Italy.

After leaving the UFC in 2013, Sakara made the move back up to the 205-pound division and is coming off a win in the weight class.
“I changed divisions because, I don’t know if people understand, but if you cut a lot of weight, it’s hard to be 100-percent in the fight. I changed weight classes because the lower weight isn’t for me,” Sakara told MMAWeekly.com.
“In the light heavyweight division it’s different. It’s more comfortable for me for energy, for power, for everything,” he said.
“My camp was very good because at American Top Team I have a lot of fighters from Bellator, from UFC, from ONE FC,” he said.
While he’s prepared in all aspects, Sakara would like to keep the fight a striking affair against Rogers because he believes that he has an advantage in that department.
“I want to fight in the striking because I want to knock him out,” said Sakara.
The 34-year-old plans to make a statement in his Bellator debut and is prepared for a war against the “The Professional Predator.”
“He’s explosive. He’s a tough guy, but I’m better than him in the striking. I can wrestle with him. I’m going to fight hard every round. To me, it’s a war, and I don’t if he’s prepared for my type of war,” he said. “The only prediction that I have is that I 100-percent want to knock him out.”
