LAS VEGAS — XYIENCE and the Ultimate Fighting Championship announce Joey Horel, 34, of Phoenix as the winner of the Ultimate Access Sweepstakes. The nationwide promotion that ran from February 2 to March 11, 2011 was co-sponsored by the UFC and XYIENCE, maker of Xenergy, the official energy drink of the UFC. Horel’s name was selected at random from over 7,000 entries.
Horel and a guest (his brother, Andy) will receive roundtrip airfare to Toronto, hotel accommodations and VIP passes for the UFC Fan Expo, held at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto, Friday, April 29 – Saturday, April 30. In addition, the pair will attend the UFC weigh-in on Friday and on Saturday, they will have the honor of joining UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones at UFC 129: St-Pierre vs. Shields, being held at Rogers Centre. After the fight, Jones and XYIENCE spokesmodels Amber Nichole and Amanda Corey will accompany the winners to the UFC 129 after party that’s hosted by XYIENCE.
Horel expresses his excitement, “Andy and I grew up wrestling and have been watching UFC from the very beginning. We are really looking forward to hanging out with Jon Jones, who is one of our favorite fighters. I want to thank XYIENCE and the UFC for this amazing opportunity.”
Jones recently claimed the UFC’s light heavyweight title during UFC 128 in his victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, making him the youngest titleholder in the history of the UFC at 23 years old. XYIENCE signed Jones in late 2010 and he is the only current titleholder on XYIENCE’s team of mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters.
“A part of our supporting the MMA lifestyle is being able to share the UFC experience with devoted fans like the Horel brothers,” says Jessica Hughes, XYIENCE’s marketing director. “The UFC shares XYIENCE’s vision of making experiences like this a reality for fans, and we look forward to working with the UFC in the future.”
