One of the top heavyweight fighters in the
world, Josh Barnett returned to mixed martial arts action after more than a
year outside of the ring on Wednesday night in Japan. It took him until the
third round of a hard fought bout with Hidehiko Yoshida, but he submitted the
Olympic gold medalist for a successful return to action.

Takanori Gomi – the No. 1 ranked
lightweight in the world – stormed back to action as well, in a blazing
stand-up battle with Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran and former K-1 star
Duane “Bang” Ludwig. He busted open a deep cut on the bridge of Ludwig’s nose
with a stunning left hand en route to the bout being stopped midway through the
first round.
