WSOF Logo on Slate-110x77World Series of Fighting on Monday took a unique approach to fight promotion, challenging its competition, Bellator MMA, to a “winner take all” pay-per-view that might even include fighters switching rosters.

WSOF vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz, on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hourthrew out the challenge: a pay-per-view event pitting 10 WSOF fighters against 10 Bellator fighters. The winning promotion would keep all gate receipts and pay-per-view revenue from the event.

Abdel-Aziz also opened it up for any Bellator fighter – whether said fighter won or lost – to make the move over to World Series of Fighting. That would, as would the entire endeavor, take a major commitment Bellator, which even Abdel-Aziz admitted wasn’t likely to happen.

“I don’t think they will, but we will, 100 percent,” Abdel-Aziz said on The MMA Hour.

WSOF even went so far as to tweet out its proposed match-ups:

Tyrone Spong vs. Quinton Jackson
Anthony Johnson vs. Attila Vegh
Andrei Arlovski vs. Vitaly Minakov
Marlon Moraes vs. Eduardo Dantas
Yushin Okami vs. Alexander Shlemenko
Rousimar Palhares vs. Douglas Lima
Justin Gaethje vs. Michael Chandler
Georgi Karakhanyan vs. Daniel Straus
Jon Fitch vs. Rick Hawn
David Branch vs. Brett Cooper

Bellator MMA, at the time of publication, had yet to respond to a request for comment.

Bellator should do it since that’s what they did to Strikeforce back in 2010 when they issued a challenge to them. They should bill the PPV as “Battle for Numero 2”
Also if they do the “Versus series” they should do it like when DREAM vs Sengoku did it a few years ago, with the huge score board and all that.

i don’t see viacom gambling like this, but would love to see all of those potential match ups.

I think it would be awesome! But I’m sure Bellator would want to negotiate different fighters matched up against one another but looking at this I would take Bellator over WSOF with this card
On WSOF I would take Spong, Marlon Morales & David Branch… Spong vs. Rampage would be good, I just think Rampage would be a step slow. All the other fights I think Bellator would take them, most in a walk… Hey but that’s me

      Shlemenko could not beat Okami

Doubtful Alexander Shlemenko is a very under rated fighter if you watch his fight with Hector Lombard you can clearly tell that Hector was stalling the fight, an IMHO he lost, he also has an impressive record, i think he belongs in the ufc.

How about ”the loser” must close their business. With money, you get regain at a later date but when you’re out of business, you’re nothing. Anyway, it will never happen, it’s just a clever way of marketing, trying to bring the company’s profile up against a competitor, which I personally think it’s cheap.

I like it! Something interesting and although not new, out side the box.

I love this, great matchups and ballsy/creative marketing. Hope something, at least similar to this, will actually happen. I’d buy that ppv.
