The World Series of Fighting returned to NBC Sports Network this past Saturday night for WSOF 2: Arlovski vs. Johnson.
The promotion’s sophomore effort received a slight uptick in the TV ratings, drawing 210,000 viewers, according to industry sources. That represents a small increase over the TV ratings for WSOF’s first event, which drew an audience of 198,000 viewers.
Saturday’s WSOF 2 featured former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski and one-time welterweight Anthony Johnson in a heavyweight main event. Despite stepping up in weight to 230 pounds, Johnson took the fight to Arlovski, scoring a unanimous decision over the former champ.
Arlovski was also the WSOF 1 headliner, scoring a first-round TKO victory over former Strikeforce and IFL fighter Devin Cole.
World Series of Fighting officials already have a date on tap for its next event. WSOF 3 will take place on June 14 at an as yet unannounced venue in Las Vegas, and will once again be broadcast on the NBC Sports Network.
The fight card hasn’t been laid out yet either, but WSOF officials are hoping to put together a fight between recent marquee signee Jon Fitch and Josh Burkman. Burkman is fresh off a win over Aaron Simpson on Saturday, but was hesitant in immediately accepting a fight with Fitch.
