The MMA World Series of Fighting launched on Saturday night with Arlovski vs. Cole at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The event also aired live on NBC Sports Network.

The WSoF 1 TV ratings pulled in an average audience of 198,000 viewers for the two-hour telecast on NBC Sports Network, according to MMAWeekly.com industry sources.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski TKO’d Strikeforce veteran Devin Cole midway through the opening round of their bout, while Anthony “Rumble” Johnson continued his transition to light heavyweight with a show-stopping, first-round knockout of D.J. Linderman.

The second edition of WSoF is tentatively planned for Jan. 26, quite possibly returning to Planet Hollywood, WSoF officials have yet to firm up the follow-up event.

There has also been no announcement as to whether or not WSoF 2 will return to NBC Sports Network.

So they drew what Bellator typically draws, that’s awesome for a new company airing their first event.

The flipside is to that though is that they were on a channel that to my knowledge has a much larger viewing audience than any channel Bellator has been on so far. So basically that number isn’t telling us too much just yet.
