Following the recent court injunction filed by Bellator MMA to keep Quinton “Rampage” Jackson out of the UFC 186 co-main event in Montreal, the Ultimate Fighting Championship on Saturday announced a new opponent for Fabio Maldonado.

Quinton-Jackson-Rampage-UFC-130-pre-press-450x260With original opponent Rampage now unavailable, Maldonado will square off with Octagon debutant Steve Bosse, according to UFC officials.

The two will meet at Montreal’s Bell Centre on April 25.

A former hockey player, Bosse turned to professional mixed martial arts in 2007, and has won 10 of 11 fights thus far. He rides an eight-fight winning streak into the fight with Maldonado.

The middleweight fight between Michael Bisping and CB Dollaway moves into the co-main event slot, while flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson puts belt on line against Kyoji Horiguchi in the main event.

UFC officials said Jackson and his representatives plan to appeal the court’s order, but with the event drawing nearer, the UFC has had to take action to ensure a suitable replacement was found to face Maldonado.

      er … how u figure?

      • snapdad

        sarcasm. this card sucks.

        • C**ty McC**tenstein

Retardation….. Is a hell of an illness

  • uncle

I’ll still don’t give a good God d*mn. They might as well signed Sarah Palin to fight Ronda at UFC 200

  • taylor2008

Are they serious?! Bosse hasnt fought since 2013 and he has barely fought once a year in garbage venues. WOW! This is grasping for straws. They could have found someone better for this fight.

  • Sarge

looks like another decent card turned very crappy.

    • Sarges FAKE VALOR

Hey SARGE!!!! Yay looks like someone is back to playing army!!! 🙂

      • Sarge

        ok loser.

  • drkdisciple

Are you serious, is this the best the UFC can do to try to save the card? What next? David Loisseau?

    • snapdad

I usually get flak for saying this, but I blame fightpass. with all these excessive fight cards, it is forced to thin the fight cards out. and then when a card gets hit with an injury, the card then really suffers. sometimes too much is not a good thing.

  • TheCerealKiller

Every card does not have a “co-main event”. They have to stop using that term on every card.

    • snapdad

I agree. just like when they make a interim title, just to give the fight card a title fight.

    • Gary Fredericks

I agree with you there bro. Search YouTube for Bosse and watch his hockey fights. Guy is an animal and I think he just may pair well with Maldonado’s gunslinger stand up style. Not saying he will win, just saying it has the ingredients for a good old fashioned stand up brawl. Maldonado is all heart and guts but is far from elite. This could be good.

  • Gary Fredericks

If you ever seen Bosse fight in hockey, this could be interesting as Maldonado likes to fight on his feet too. Bosse was a bad man on skates. I may be in the minute minority here, but I like this fight to be honest. Maldonado and Bosse both like to go home with their shield or on it. This could be a very entertaining fight IMVHO.

    • drkdisciple

Look at his fights this year with the laval predators(all seven of them). I watched them all and i can assure you that there was nothing impressive about them. Bosse works as a fireman and he was using hockey to supplement his income. To see his fight with Maldonado as fight of the night might be wishful thinking.

      • Gary Fredericks

I never said fight of the night. I said interesting and possibly entertaining. Major difference there dude.

        • drkdisciple

I hear you…just saying your expectations might be a little high. Regardless that fight cant be any worse then the main event.

          • Gary Fredericks

That is true. Honestly, I have no expectations of anything on these crappy cards anymore. I am a fan of Bosse’s hockey brawls and only am suggesting this “could” be a good fight with Maldonado. Deffinitely not a P4P best in the world implication by any stretch. All I am saying is the fighters both have the tools to make it fun to watch.

    • Gary F**kdricks is RETARDED

You’re absolutely without a doubt 100% certified retarded so I’m not gonna make fun of you for that comment. You’re and inspiration little guy! You go get em! don’t forget you helmet and water wings.

  • shakejunt

just seems weird since i remember bosse announcing his retirement shortly after signing and having to pull out of a fight.

Come one big difference between having a fight on ice with a hockey player than having a fight in a cage with a pro fighter, just like throwing a street fighter in a the cage.
