Following the loss of Mike Kyle in his co-main event fight against Gegard Mousasi at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey on March 3 in Ohio, a different fight has been promoted to the main card.

The bout between Scott Smith and Lumumba Sayers has been bumped up, which also means Mousasi will not be getting a replacement opponent for the upcoming show at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus.

Sources close to the situation confirmed the main card shuffle to MMAWeekly.com.

The remainder of the undercard remains the same with those fights airing on Showtime Extreme.

As for Gegard Mousasi, the loss of Kyle in a co-main event fight, made it tough to find another opponent on short notice to fill in adequately. Instead it appears Mousasi will wait to fight another day and on another card.

Strikeforce has yet to announced the move or what kind of shuffle this will do to the main card in regards to which fight will be dubbed the new co-main event.

Who thought it was a good idea to headline this card with a chick fight? Now the “co-main event” falls through and this card is about as interesting as your average “Wild Bill’s Fight Night” event. This card is a bust and will do poorly at the gate and on TV. I have no interest and won’t be watching.

After the dust settles, they (Zuffa / Strikeforce and Showtime) need to reevaluate their long term goals and pick a different path forward. They are quickly running whatever brand value Strikeforce has left right into the ground. If it was up to me, I’d put Reed Harris in charge and let him run it the way he did the WEC.

I am in total agreeance with you. What a lame card. Mousasi was about the only thing interesting on that card. The more they hype Tate/Rousey to more uninterested I become.

The whole thing is a bad joke.

How much are tickets to this thing? Like 5 dollars?

  • D-rail

It’s free if as long as you bring any UFC event ticket stub.

“I WAS THE FIRST PERSON WHO BELIEVED IN MMA! THIS ENTIRE CARD IS FULL OF ONLY BRAND NAME FIGHERS SO THEY CAN GET RATINGS INSTEAD OF PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY DESERVE A SHOT! OOOH! I WISH EVERYONE HAD SEEN EVERY PRIDE FIGHT JUST LIKE ME SO THAT THEY COULD HOLD COURT AND NOT ENJOY MMA AS A FAN ANYMORE. I ONLY HOPE THAT EVERY FIGHT CARD WILL DISAPPIOINT ME, THAT WAY I KNOW THEY HAVE INTEGRITY!”

Easy on the caps Sheriff. We get the point you are the MMA Guru. Relax. You can get all crazy but the fact is SF hasn’t had a solid card since the Zuffa takeover. Solid fights sure but not a solid card.
