Jimi Manuwa broke his foot ahead of his scheduled UFC Fight Night 56 bout and has been forced out of the card’s main event with Shogun Rua, officials announced on Wednesday.

Shogun will now face Ovince St. Preux in the featured bout on the Nov. 8 card, which takes place at the Ginásio Municipal Tancredo Neves in Uberlândia, Brazil.

Details on how Manuwa sustained the injury were not revealed.

Rua (22-9) comes into the Fight Night card looking to get back on the winning track after a brutal loss to Dan Henderson last March. In the fight, Rua looked ahead on the scorecards, but Henderson then landed a massive right hand that sent Shogun falling to the canvas. The former UFC light heavyweight champion has lost three of his las four.

St-Preux (16-6) is also coming off a loss, but has had the better run in the UFC, going 4-1 during his Octagon tenure. He was originally tabbed to face Francimar Barroso, and plans to provide Barroso with a replacement opponent were not revealed.

WHAT! someone in a ufc main event got injured? this is unheard of!

Wow, Shogun steps up on less than 10 days notice. He must have been training hard…
    Good for him.

He may be training hard, but I have given up hopes for Shogun.

And I had thought he would rule the LHW until his retirement not so long ago.

His chin is simply not what it used to be, and with the tide of new breed of big LHWs in the division, I simply don’t see a way for him to get another title shot. Phil Davis, Cormier, Anthony Johnson, and Gustafson are just too much for this guy to handle.

And although he might crack the top 5 in the MW division, I don’t see how he can beat Chris Weidman after seeing how much Machida struggled with Weidman. Plus, the MW has its own crew of new guys, Mousasi, Rockhold, Jacare. And those are are no joke.

And there is no way he can drop down to WW.

I say try to go for the big name fights, suck up to Dana, make some cash and retire early.

hoping that him coaching tuf brazil 4 opposite anderson means they’ll fight after. that’d be a good fight for him to get paid and retire off.
