Pat HealyPORTLAND – Strikeforce lightweight Pat Healy had a difficult fight on his hands at Rockhold vs. Kennedy on Saturday night in Mizuto Hirota, but once again, Healy came out on the winning end of a unanimous decision.

The question now begs to be asked; after five consecutive victories, will Pat Healy finally get a shot at Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez?

Check out what Pat Healy and Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker had to say on the matter at the Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy post-fight press conference…

NO!! he does NOT deserve a title shot…he only won because he was in his hometown!!

I had Healy 2 Rds to 1. But it wasn’t impressive at all. He is a good journeyman but not a top contender. I’m sorry to say but there isn’t a single fighter in Strikeforce that deserves a shot at Gil. They need to bring in talent like they did with Nate Marquardt. I say go after Eddie Alvarez, he will be a free agent soon. But I think Dana will put him in the UFC. They need to dissolve Strikeforce after the showtime deal is up, and bring all the talent to UFC and can the rest.

Only in Strikeforce can a prelim fighter now want a title shot. A Hometown fighter won a close decision with suspicious judges. There is no way Hirota lost a 30-27 judges score.

He’s clearly the number 1 contender, but seriously – I like SF and all, but a fight between Pat Healy and Gilbert Melendez is going to be very tough to promote. That’s really why they keep prolonging his claim to a title shot.

Where’s Eddie Alvarez? Now that would be a good match-up for El Niño!

come on healy is an average MMA fighter who is never going to a champ. Not enough skills to be great. average at best.nothing much skill wise.
