Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva

Two down, several hundred combinations to go.

That’s the word from UFC president Dana White, who was once again asked who will coach Season 13 of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

“That’s not true,” he declared at a press conference announcing UFC Rio when asked about Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen coaching the reality series.

“We have not picked the coaches of ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ and then there are a lot of people in the running, but no Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen is not true. They are not the coaches of this season.”

Silva is returning from knee surgery, and Sonnen is currently serving a suspension for a positive drug test in California from when he fought Anderson Silva at UFC 117.

There is some heat surrounding the two from a YouTube video where Wanderlei Silva warned Sonnen about his trash talk leading up to the fight with Anderson Silva, especially in regards to the Nogueira brothers. A recent Twitter war between the two increased the friction.

The two would likely make for an entertaining feud on TUF, but White says it won’t happen.

“We’ll probably know by Friday. We’re still talking to guys and figuring it out,” White said in talking about filling the TUF 13 coaching slots. “I started the process on Monday; we should have it done by Friday. We don’t announce it for a while anyway, but I’m working on it.”

The UFC president has also been hesitant to declare Urijah Faber or other top WEC fighters coming into the fold as the next coaches, so the cloud has yet to lift.

Who will be the next Ultimate Fighter… coaches?

Sonnen – this man is a drugs cheat, despite the ridiculous outcome of the hearing. If he had nowt to hid why didn’t he come out with it, especially when he knew the substance was clearly a performance enhancer? UFC used to be hard on cheats, rhetorically anyway, but now White has softened his stance considerably. There are now a number of confirmed cheats in the promotion such as Leben who got a paltry 9 months. The problem is, if someone is injured or worse against a fighter who later tests positive where does that leave the sport? Never mind the poor bloody fighter. Lets get a much tougher drugs testing regime in place!

i think that Chael Sonnen didn’t disclose his illness in fear that he might have his license taken from him. As for being tougher on drug cheats what do u suppose they do?

Surprised white hasn’t gone for these guys, silva needs something to make him relevant again, get the fans talkin about him once more, and sonnen needs to coach! It would be brilliant tv as he is probably the best trash talker in the game. It would prob be the most watched series ever with the interest sonnen would create. Have the pair fight at the end for a title shot at anderson/vitor. Let’s make the middleweight division interesting again!
