Ronda Rousey UFC 157 Pre 10Most fighters can point to a moment in time when mixed martial arts caught their eye and they said, “I could do that.”

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is no different.

She had already competed in the 2004 Olympics as a Judoka – where she failed to medal – and was in the middle of another run, preparing for the 2008 Olympics, where she would win a bronze medal. She became the first American to win an Olympic medal in women’s judo.

It was her judo team that unintentionally exposed her move to a career in fighting.

“My judo team got into watching MMA and we would have little ‘fight nights’ where we would all get together and watch the fights that were on,” Rousey recounted in a recent interview on the Fox Files.

“I remember one of them, I saw Gina Carano and Julie Kedzie fight, and I just sat there and I thought, ‘I could beat both those girls. I could be doing that right now.’ But I didn’t want to say it because I was in the middle of an Olympic run and everyone would turn to me and call me an idiot.”

Once she medaled in the Olympics and the prospects for judo started to wind down, Rousey jumped head first into mixed martial arts. Much like her mother blazed trails for women in judo – she was the first American Judoka to win a World Championship – Ronda began blazing trails in fighting.

She hasn’t had the opportunity to fight either of her initial inspirations. Gina Carano hasn’t fought since 2009, forgoing fighting for Hollywood, while Julie Kedzie is still competing, but hasn’t been able to put herself in a position to challenge Rousey.

Meanwhile, Rousey’s ability and magnetic personality has led her to a 7-0 start in her career and helped usher women into the UFC’s Octagon.

Rousey was dead broke living in her van begging and working 3 waitress jobs. Looking like a blimp with no boyfriend with a full fat round face and a crudeness that chased mountain men away.

    • james j

      Your response is moronic.

      • jeremy

yours is… what a dumb thing to say. you and Bob. Bob i just an idiot though. And you are for backing him the idiot.

        • james j

Uhh, Jeremy fighters fight for money not fun. It is called life.

    • Richurd Cheese

      You are pathetic.

    • Werdoomb

      I laughed at this.

I guess BobGyro is being sarcastic here.

What else would be the reason? Your ability to make money off of Judo is limited. You can be an instructor at a local gym, a PE teacher, or join the UFC.

    • Pat Garret

I’m sure ,you are no oil painting either Bob!

    • Guest

Guys, isn’t Bob’s statement kinda true, though?

*Hardship doesn’t make me look down at a person, at all. I’ve been through some hells in life, myself, and genuinely appreciate the experiences others go through. Even the oldest of our species is just a child, and it’s pride, vanity, that’s “moronic”

      • Guest

        Wait a minute..

That said, above: I just read Bob’s second comment, which is authentically moronic, and makes me want to take my first comment back

(However, what’s true is true and I believe in the sentiment that we should look past our ego when looking at each other. Perhaps Bob needs a few hardships, himself, and he too will understand

    • David Wise

Is there something wrong with you? Are you sick? Go get mental help.

  • james j

Real simple. The need for money.

    • Werdoomb

Not even sure if this thing is article worthy.

      Why point out the obvious?

Judo doesn’t lead to money. i guess Ronda could have moved back home, got a job at a local dojo, interviewed for PE teacher positions at local high schools, and eventually get married and pop babies.

Or, she could use her Judo background, take the risk of getting beat down on a national TV, and make enough money to live comfortably.

  • TheCerealKiller

    Money, next!

  • BobGyro

Rousey will be 200lbs living in some trailer park with a big bellied slob in a wife beater shirt stained with tobacco juice and ketchup with a Pitbull at her fat feet in 10 years.

    • Werdoomb

      lol

      • james j

By his errors in grammar and content, it is evident that Bob probably lives in a trailer park. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just saying…

        • jeremy

          your an idiot.

          • james j

Jeremy, try you’re instead of your. English 101.

  • BobGyro

second place is first loser so what is 3rd place? Judo dat? Rhonda is a slob low mentality and will be broke.

    • Werdoomb

why do you hate her so much?

      • james j

Bob G = educated man. Not so much or at all.

  • BobGyro

Please let Cyborg break Rousey’s face in and punch Rousey’s uterus out.

  • BobGyro

Rousey will be doing tricks off Hollywood Blvd in a few years with anyone. Rousey is a low life crude and vile.

    • Ed Mister

Sorry, I got 86’d. I think you might be right, Bob. But when that day comes, I would not do Fat Ronda with Fallon’s d__k. What kills me about Fat Ronda and her porker roommate, they present themselves like they think they are really hot looking women.

  • Ed Mister

“Magnetic” is not the word that comes to my mind. How about one of these, “childish, disrespectfully, outspoken, buffoon, obnoxious”? Ability? How about less than one dimensional? One move skill set? Look at the level of competition. Is this the face that women really want for the sport? How about someone like Sarah McMann, who would present herself like Georges St. Pierres? Instead of someone presenting herself like a Nick Diaz.

  • BobGyro

Rhonda Rousey will be swinging around a pole in a few years. And making porn. Nothing more for old round moon face Rousey.

    • Werdoomb

      oh man. Moon face?

      this is funny. epic!

    • Ed Mister

I doubt that. To get a job like that, you have to be capable of causing a stiffy. Please tell me Fat Ronda does not do that for you.
