Denver CO, January 24, 2006: The Worldwide Fighting Championship announces “Final Countdown,” professional Mixed Martial Arts event, scheduled for 7 PM, Saturday March 18, 2006 at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado.
Headlining “Final Countdown,” will be the battle for WFC bantamweight supremacy, as current champion Matt “The Warlock,” Ver Halen will battle Steve “Razor,” Sharp for the title.
Ver Halen captured the belt in September 2005, winning a unanimous decision over Steve Horton. Sharp won the right to challenge Ver Halen by beating Noah Thomas by unanimous decision on WFC’s “Rumble in the Rockies,” in January.
Also appearing on the card in the co-main event will be crowd-favorite Eric “Tagger,” Heinz as he steps into the cage to face his toughest challenge yet. Heinz will take-on Brandon “The Murderer,” Melendez.
Heinz is a WFC veteran who beat Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Andy Wang in November in his WFC debut at “Fight Club.” Melendez lost a tough match to Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Drew Fickett, on his last trip through Colorado.
The oldest active professional MMA fighter, Skip Hall, will mark his second fight with the WFC at “Final Countdown,” After beating Chuck Costello in November, the 61 year-old Hall, will fight Rich Dalton.
Other action will include Joe Serna making his return to the cage taking-on Robert Maldonado and John “Slaughterhouse,” Sargent will make his professional debut against a very tough and experienced Jeff “The Wolverine,” Barney.
“Final Countdown,” is the fourth WFC event and the second of 2006. The fan base grows with each production and ‘Countdown,” looks to be no different.
