The second to last ever WEC show held weigh-ins on Wednesday with former featherweight champion Urijah Faber making the bantamweight limit and challenger Takeya Mizugaki hitting weight as well to welcome him to the division.
“I don’t feel nothing special if it’s against Urijah, I’m just going to go for the win,” Mizugaki said about his opponent.
Faber admitted that the last couple of pounds tested him, but he made weight and will now look to do in the bantamweight division what he did in the featherweight division for so long. The first step is taking out Takeya Mizugaki on Thursday night.
“I’m ready, I can’t wait,” Faber said after making the bantamweight division for the first time. “It’s been a fun cut, it’s been a little difficult at the end, I feel great. I’ve got a great opponent in Mizugaki, he comes forward and can take a beating and he can give one if someone will let him. I’m not going to let him.
All of the other fighters on the card made weight with the exception of lightweight fighter Zack Micklewright who came in at 158lbs, 2lbs over the limit. Micklewright will have two hours following the weigh-ins to cut the additional weight or risk penalties for missing the lightweight limit.
