World Extreme Cagefighting makes its debut in the Great White North on Sunday night at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, but first the fighters had to weigh in Saturday.
Jamie Varner and Kamal Shalorus, who square off in a lightweight contenders’ showdown in the main event, were both on weight. Varner stepped on the scale at 156 pounds and Shalorus at 155.
They both also know that neither can afford to make any mistakes if they want to move on and challenge current 155-pound champion Ben Henderson.
“It’s gonna be one hell of a fight,” said Varner.
A Canadian featherweight battle between Mark Hominick and Yves Jabouin, a fight eight years in the making, is also ready to go with each man making weight.
MMAWeekly.com will have live coverage of the main bouts on Sunday night and quick results of the preliminary bouts. The main bouts also air live on Versus in the United States beginning at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET.
