The Ohio Athletic Commission on Tuesday announced that all drug tests for WEC 47: Bowles vs. Cruz on March 6 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus returned negative results.
Both main event fighters, Brian Bowles and Dominick Cruz, as well as the four other winners from the main card were tested both for performance enhancing substances and drugs of abuse. The four main card winners tested were Joseph Benavidez, Javier Vazquez, L.C. Davis, and Bart Palaszewski.
Cruz defeated Bowles in the main event, taking his spot as WEC bantamweight champion. Benavidez established himself as one of the top contenders to Cruz’s new belt with his brutal submission of Miguel Torres in the co-main event.
