World Extreme Cagefighting on Monday confirmed the full fight card for its Sept. 2 event at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio. The main event of WEC 43 features a battle between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Ben Henderson for the WEC interim lightweight title.
“This card features some of the fastest-rising stars in the sport,” WEC General Manager Reed Harris said in a prepared statement. “WEC continually delivers fight cards that are among the year’s best. This one will absolutely deliver.”
In addition to the main event, WEC also confirmed several previously reported bouts including:
-Rich Crunkilton (16-2) vs. Dave Jansen (12-0)
-Damacio Page (11-4) and Akitoshi Tamura (14-7-2)
-Anthony Pettis (7-0) vs. Alex Karalexis (10-4)
-Raphael Assuncao (13-1; #7 Featherweight) vs. Yves Jabouin (14-4)
-Scott Jorgensen (6-3) vs. Rafael Rebello (6-3)
-Wagnney Fabiano (12-1; #4 Featherweight) vs. Erik Koch (8-0)
-Manny Tapia (10-2-1) vs. Eddie Wineland (14-6-1)
-Anthony Njokuani (10-2) vs. Muhsin Corbbrey (7-3)
-Coty Wheeler (10-1) vs. Charlie Valencia (10-5)
Notably absent from the announcement is a recently rumored bout between Mark Hominick and Deivida Taurosevicius. UFC President Dana White on Friday announced that Hominick had signed with the WEC, although he did not announce an event or opponent for the Canadian.
WEC 43 “Cerrone vs. Henderson” will be televised live in the United States on Versus beginning at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.
