Ruben “Warpath” Villareal, who last faced Jimmy Ambriz at Galaxy Productions’ World Cage Fighting Organization event on Nov. 7 in Hollywood, Calif., has been fined and suspended for testing positive for 4-Hydroxytestosterone according to Bill Douglas, a representative of the California State Athletic Commission.
He has been fined a total $2,500 and suspended for 365 days.
4-Hydroxytestosterone is the same anabolic steroid that Vitor Belfort tested positive for following his Oct. 21, 2006 loss to Dan Henderson at Pride’s American debut in Las Vegas.
Villareal lost the bout to Amriz via TKO in the first round. It was his 13th bout in the past two years. Known for stepping in on short notice, Villareal has a 4-7-2 record in that time span.
