It’s the type of question often begged of UFC president Dana White at press conferences and other fan appearances.

“Can I put the belt around the winner’s waist?”

Yes, yes, you can… well, if you win the Ultimate Poker online tournament. The top prize of the “Belt the Champ” tournament, which runs now through July 22, is to put the belt around the waist of the winner between UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and challenger Dan Henderson at UFC 151 on Sept. 1 in Las Vegas.

To receive an invitation to the tournament, poker and UFC fans alike are encouraged to visit the Ultimate Poker Facebook application, click on the “Tournament” or “Sit n Go” tab to register.  There is no entry fee to compete in the tournament; it is a social poker event with no chips or money required.

“We are happy to be in business with Ultimate Poker and this is undoubtedly the coolest prize we have ever given away,” remarked UFC president Dana White.

It’s definitely a prize that many UFC fans would want to. It also includes the trip to Vegas for UFC 151 and VIP treatment from the promotion.

It’s not surprising, however, that Ultimate Poker is the host of such a contest. The site is owned and operated by Fertitta Interactive, which in turn is owned by Fertitta Entertainment, LLC, the owner of Station Casinos and the UFC.

it sounds like the UFC/Zuffa is using this to advertise the poker site. it’s pretty smart. they’re advertising to the target demographic for free.
