On Dec. 1, The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced that it had signed a six-year apparel deal with Reebok, making Reebok the official outfitter for the UFC. Since the announcement, some fighters have voiced concern about losing the sponsors they already have. Wanderlei Silva believes he has come up with a solution.

Oooow…here we go, Wandy taking credit for something he has nothing to do with. I can’t wait to read all those comments with congratulations towards him for “helping” fighters 🙂

Also he isn’t the one to talk about making a living off of fighting 2-3 times a year nowdays. barerly over 1 fight per year (on average) and made almost 10mil thanks to it. Sure, it has to be hard for him to live now…

I agree. Wanderlei Silva is a complete whack-job.

Why is he not making videos to thank all of his little fanboy’s with the man-crushes on him defending his cheating and lying ass?

What is he taking credit for? He’s just saying he’ll give up and comers a spot to post their videos on his sites.

In his prime in Pride he would fight 3 to 4 times a year.

I don’t get why people talk shit about Wanderlei when he helped build this sport. I get how he comes across but he did take a lot of head trauma. Wanderlei Is one of the best fighters of all time!

        Dear Grasshopper,

please, read my comment if you want to reply. “In his prime in Pride he would fight 3 to 4 times a year.” <– He's talking about modern days and current fighters having problems living off of fighting 2-3 times a year, while he in those days fought once a year making almost a million for a fight.

I don't see how his past can justify the fact he is making a fool out of himself TODAY. I used to respect him – then he started to go on his pointless rants, which makes absolutely no sense. Plus, its only talk because that's what Wandarlei can do for fighters. He can talk the talk, but he can't walk the walk and he proved that to us a few times.

What is he taking credit for? Watch his video.

"Then it means our movement is having it's effect". Thats what he said in that video (0:20). He has NOTHING to do with uniforms. Go back months ago, when first rumors leaked about it. He didn't even care about it back then – now all of the sudden it's thanks to his so-called "movement" that this deal was created.

MAYBE he helped to build this sport and I may respect him for that – but that doesn't mean everything he does is great. If he would start with admitting that he did run away from drug testing and admit he did cheat and just wanted to avoid being caught – that's something I can respect him for. Chael had balls to admit to what he did, after he was busted twice. Wandarlei can't do even that and he tries to act as a "good guy" now.

Besides, take a look at his shirt. It looks to me like he now makes money off of those videos – because that's what usually happens when you wear merchandise of company in the video that is suppose to be viewed a lot. Im sure IntegralMedica is proud to have him on their payroll. He "fights" for more money for others (and he only talks about it, doing nothing to actually help them) and he puts on sponsor's merch on the video to help himself. Classy, isn't it?

wait wasnt he just trying to escape the ufc?

I think it should be mandatory to post the length of the video before I click on it. You don’t have to put it in the headline to mess up your click through count but some warning would be nice.

    • TheCerealKiller

      Why? It was short?

Well, every time that comes up I repeat the same thing over and over again. Union. That would help the fighters. And if Wandy REALLY wants to help, he could start it. Or at least be part starting crew. But he does nothing and all I bash him for is talking about how bad fighters are treated, but only person that benefits off of it is him.

And I believe that reason why UFC CAN bring uniforms (lets face it, they did it so they can. Even if its not entirely legal, they did it and no one really opposed it) is also that fighters have nothing to say. I imagine that its more like “Ok, so every fighter on our card has to wear it. You have the right to say no though”, but we all know what would happen to a fighter that said no, right? Because single fighters rarely have any power to say no (besides really top guys and those that are important to the UFC). With Union, they could say as majority of fighters “We refuse to wear uniforms because [here put the legal formula about indy contractors etc]”. Then if Union would have…lets say 50-60% of UFC fighters…well, thats 50-60% of roster that you can’t use on your cards then, so all of the sudden there is a power to their “no” finally.

Why no one really creates that so far? I have no idea. But I do hope that someone will do it soon, because that’s the worst thing you can do to hurt MMA promotors, with Dana and UFC on top of that list.

I agree a union is best.

Just a thought. If the fighters start a union they can sell a poster autographed by them and use that money to fund it. IDK they just need to do something.
