From the ‘let’s try this again’ file, Vladdy Matyushenko and Alexander Gustafsson have been re-booked, this time for UFC 141 in December.
The pair of light heavyweights were originally scheduled to meet at UFC 133, but an injury suffered by Matyushenko in training forced him out of the bout.
UFC officials announced the new bout on late Wednesday evening.
Following a loss to Jon Jones in 2010, Matyushenko has bounced back in a big way, finishing his last two opponents in the first round. Now the veteran fighter faces another top up and comer in Alexander Gustafsson.
It was also a loss for Gustafsson that turned things around for him. Dropping a fight by submission to future teammate Phil Davis put Gustafsson on the right track, and now he’s won three fights in a row, all by TKO or submission.
Now the two light heavyweights are on a collision course to meet at UFC 141 set to go down on Dec 30 in Las Vegas.
