It appears that UFC president Dana White has finally found a suitable opponent for Vitor Belfort.
UFC Tonight on Tuesday reported that Belfort and Dan Henderson have verbally agreed to a rematch. The bout, although as yet unsigned, is being targeted for a Nov. 9 event in Brazil that has not yet been officially announced.
It was unclear at the time of the report at what weight the two would meet. Belfort has consistently stated that he does not want to take another fight at middleweight unless it is for the UFC middleweight championship.
He has also said that he would fight at any other weight from a catchweight to light heavyweight on up to heavyweight.
Henderson, like Belfort, has slid back and forth between middleweight and light heavyweight throughout his career, so it’s most likely that the two would meet at a catchweight or 205 pounds.
Belfort (23-10) enters the fight off of back-to-back knockout victories of Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold at middleweight, while Henderson lost his last two fights, to Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans at light heavyweight.
