There was a little pushing and shoving going on between main eventers Joey Villasenor and Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos at the weigh-ins for Friday’s Strikeforce Challengers event at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Wash., but they both made weight.
Villasenor tipped the scales at 184.5 pounds, while Cyborg was dead-on at 185 pounds when he stepped up.
“I’m feeling incredible right now. I think this fight will be all about momentum. After this fight everyone will know what I’m capable of,” said Villasenor at the weigh-in. He’ll be seeing his first action since a TKO victory over Phil Baroni more than a year ago.
Santos hasn’t seen much action lately either, coming into this fight off of a losing effort at Sengoku last September. “It’s going to be a good fight and I think everyone will know me when we’re all done,” he said. “I have respect for my opponent. He has good boxing skill, good wrestling skill … but he’s not great at one thing. He’s good at a lot of things, but not great. I will win.”
