UFC senior executive Marc Ratner was one of the most respected executive directors in the history of the Nevada Athletic Commission, whose influence reached far outside his own state, influencing the way commissions across the country operated.
Although his influence was first felt in the boxing world, Ratner has been a key regulator in the world of mixed martial arts, as well. So much so that the UFC hired him to spearhead its efforts to get independent MMA regulation spread globally.
In this interview with SBNation’s Luke Thomas, Ratner discusses the status of MMA regulation, including the sordid situation in trying to get MMA regulation passed in the last American holdout… New York.

Having been a “boxing guy” for numerous years, Ratner also has a unique perspective on Saturday’s Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao mega-fight and it’s place in boxing history. And while many are calling it fight of the century, Ratner believes there are others that hold a much greater distinction than Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.
