The sort-of-retired UFC welterweight Nick Diaz was in attendance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday to witness Manny Pacquiao reclaim his WBO welterweight title by defeating Timothy Bradley by unanimous decision.  Diaz spoke with The Boxing Channel about Pacquiao’s performance, his fighting plans, and his opinion of the UFC 171 main event between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler.

Following Diaz’s recent commentary on his UFC contract, it may come as no surprise that he’d like for someone to buy out his UFC contract so he can shift his focus to the sweet science.

I don’t know what is up with mmaweekly… but I watched the same interview and nowhere does it seem that Nick ‘wants someone to buy out his UFC contract.’ Why do you guys always fabricate stories? Get a clue. I can’t remember the last time I read something on your sight that had any actual factual value.

    • Piotr

Did you not watch the interview? Because he said those exact words.

      • BrendanfromBoston

Did you see his face? He wasn’t serious at all. It is very easy to see this is all a ‘put on’ to get more money from the UFC. And he will!

        • Piotr

You think the UFC cares about the Diaz brothers? That’s hilarious. Nick is on a 2 fight losing streak and Nate has won 1 of his last 3. Not the best for negotiating a new contract, so they’re trying this nonsense. No one ever claimed they were very smart though.

Oh, and I thought Nick hated interviews…

          • BrendanfromBoston

You have got to be kidding me! When is the last time either of them fought where you didn’t watch the fight from beginning to end? I have pretty much seen every UFC event ever so I may be biased, but the Diaz bro’s fights are always entertaining. And for that reason – The UFC IS interested!

          • TheCerealKiller

If Nick fights Hendricks, I watching to see Johnny. If Nate fights Nurmagomedov, I’m watching to see Khabib. I don’t watch to see a Diaz.

          • David

One, two, Diaz’s coming for you.

Three, four, better lock your door.

            Five, six, grab your crucifix.

Seven, eight, gonna stay up late.

            Nine, ten, never sleep again.”

          • earlsimmons

i stopped watching the UFC because of them….

        • Manuel Lopez

The point is that you’re accusing mmaweekly of fabricating. Not true. Nick says it very clearly more than once.

          • BrendanfromBoston

The point is anyone with a brain and eyes and knowing the storyline more than just that particular interview… knows that this is a ‘play’ by Diaz for more money. Not everyone that reads your articles are neanderthals.

          • Manuel Lopez

That’s a different matter. You were accusing this website of fabricating things. Yeah, change the subject now but you were wrong ! Fukkn idiot.

          • BrendanfromBoston

My point exactly. Try being intelligent and having an actual conversation rather than tossing insults. This website sucks first of all… looks like s–t… worst actual website I have ever seen. I guess I shouldn’t be taking much stock in it since there isn’t even a budget to have a normal site up and running. Tool.

          • BrendanfromBoston

Whats the matter? You can dish it out but can’t take it? Tool.

          • Manuel Lopez

            lol… yeah, I’m scared tough guy… oohh.

          • BrendanfromBoston

Oh I am the tough guy? Get a budget and a clue.

      • DamianCross

I watched the interview and I don’t know what he’s saying.
“Did you see a vintage Pacquiao?”
“He fights with his right hand forward.”
        …what

    Pick me Nick!

    I’ll buy out your contract

  • uncle

The antics is getting old now if he doesn’t want to fight
it shouldn’t be news he is great but watching someone
complain like this is really getting bad

  • Scooby Doo

Why don’t cowboys have circumcisions? Because they need to put their chaw some place.

  • Mark McDowall

So he said before he doesn’t want to fight…and he doesn’t like to fight…but he wants to box professionally?!?!?! Way to make absolutely no sense what so ever Nick!! At least we know he has the mental capacity to go far at Walmart…

    • Aimed With “V”

Well, maybe he doesn’t think that boxing is fighting….

      • Mark McDowall

Well maybe he’s really is an idiot.

  • Aimed With “V”

Hmmm….some boxing promotions actually can afford themselves to buy out Diaz’ contract from the UFC – he gets paid a nice sum, but boxing is different level of money.
I don’t think that Fertittas will say no to the relevant sum of money just for the case of principles – after all, profit is profit.

The question is: how popular is Nick Diaz outside of the MMA community?
Inside the community he is, no doubt, one of the most popular and talked-about figures – but do boxing fans know about his existence?
If he does, the UFC might actually get a call soon…maybe even from Arum or , for example, Hryunov.
