For Dana to think Schaub belong on the prelims, He’s an idiot.

    • El Gvapo

I’m inclined to agree with him to be honest. The guy is barely top 15 in his class.

      • Dragon Kid

And u think guys like Nelson, Mir and Struve belong in the prelims instead of the main card? Wake up.

        • El Gvapo

Where did I say anything about Mir, nelson and Struve? Go to sleep.

          • Dragon Kid

We’ll they aren’t top 10 currently & barely top 15 so I guess by your logic they are prelim fighters.

          • Lucas Freire

Actually Nelson and Mir are #9 #10 on the UFC ranking.
You really think Schaub brings something good to the mat?
Maybe I’m a hater but every “good” fight he was in he got KTFO.

          • Dragon Kid

Win or lose he still delivered a good fight. He’s had good fights with Cro Cop, Gonzaga, Mitrione & Gormley despite what you may think of them. Bottom line is the man has good fights.

          • RubeKegal

Schaub sucks. Deal with it homey.

          • Dragon Kid

Whatever hater. Keep talking outta ur ass

    • Lucas Freire

Anyone who isn’t a top10 on the HW division belongs to the prelims.

      • Dragon Kid

If guys are capable of having good fights then they don’t belong on the prelims.

        • El Gvapo

Exactly. So Schaub hasn’t earned his spot on the main card yet.

          • Dragon Kid

He’s earned it. He’s had his fair share of good fight. You’re just a hater.

          • Rube Kegal

Schaub RARELY has a good fight. You are just a nuthugger.

          • Dragon Kid

Not a nuthugger, just telling the truth because so many haters like yourselves look down on good talent for dumb reasons.

          • El Gvapo

I’m not a hater as you put it by any stretch, more a realist. I don’t dislike Schaub, I just think he doesn’t have the resume that deserves main card status. Anyway, it’s pretty clear that it was arlovski’s reputation in the sport that got this fight on the main card. However, with the increasing number of events, we are going to see these “lesser” fights on main PPV cards so let’s just get used to it eh?

    • TheCerealKiller

It was a good fight! I watch both the prelims and the main card every time, so I don’t really care where its placed.

    • Maddawgmar

He is only saying that because of the quality of that fight it belonged on the prelims. Not that Schaub belongs on the prelims, but the fight itself was not worth paying for.

  • El Gvapo

Bit harsh on Woodley? He lost to a standout WW in his hometown, hardly a disgrace.

    • Dragon Kid

He was a punching bag for all three rounds but yet Condit was able to put Rory away after losing the first two rounds which the fight also happened in Canada.

      • El Gvapo

Hardly relevant is it? And condit was less than convincing against Rory but that was a long time ago. My point remains that it was a bit harsh of Dana to accuse him of choking when he was really just outclassed. Fair enough if Dana wants to call a fighter boring, criticise their conditioning, be negative about their attitude etc but don’t question their heart. That’s just really low man.

        • Dragon Kid

Less than convincing? LOL. He was more convincing in the fight than Woodley was last night

          • El Gvapo

I still don’t see how that’s relevant? The point is Woodley got soundly beaten, but Dana’s public comments about him are unfair.

          • Dragon Kid

How’s it not relevant? They fought in Rory’s hometown & Condit smashed him to win when he was two rounds down. Woodley choked last night, just like he did against Jake Shields & even against Nate Marquardt who KO’ed his ass.

          • El Gvapo

It’s not relevant because the condit vs Rory fight was over four years ago. Not to mention the fact that one mma fight has no bearing on another, that’s just not how this, or even any other sport, works. Woodley lost in a convincing manner, he was outfought, out thought and couldn’t do anything to change that. I still don’t think that means he choked by any stretch, he was just dominated by a fighter who exposed his limited skill set. You’re effectively saying that all of Woodley’s defeats were due to him choking, so by that logic if he could sort out the mental aspect of his game he’d be unstoppable?

          • Dragon Kid

He chokes when it comes to big fights. Plain and simple.

          • RubeKegal@yahoo.com

KO’ed like Cigano was KO’ed by Cain?

          • Dragon Kid

That was a tko dumbass. JDS KO of Cain was better.

          • Graham Steeley

            JDS still got mangled!

          • Dragon Kid

He’s still one of the top two heavyweights

    • Maddawgmar

Well, Woodley choked in the title fight against Marquardt, then choked again in the title eliminator last night. But to be fair, I think even on Woodley’s best night he loses to Rory. JMO tho

      • RubeKegal

That is a contradictory statement. You can’t choke against someone who is better than you. If I fight Cain Velazquez, I didn’t lose because I “choked”, it’s because Cain is the better fighter plain and simple.

  • RubeKegal

“Woodley Chokes in big fights” says the guy who went 0-2 as an amateur boxer LOL

  • Truthcore

Dana needs to shut up more.

He can’t keep trashing the fighters and just dumping on them right after a tough loss.

As President of the UFC, he needs to be more impartial and not be too emotional. Either step down as President or STFU!

    • Maddawgmar

I don’t necessarily disagree or agree with you. He does have to be impartial, yet if he isn’t tough on fighters that aren’t performing to their potential, then they get in the mentality that mediocrity is okay. Think about it, “Hey Schaub did the best he could in that fight, Arlovsky looked awesome. I wish every fight could be like that.” If he talks like that then he might get that type of performance from fighters, and that’s not good for business. You gotta light a fire under someone’s ass every now and again.

      • El Gvapo

But you do it in private, that’s the point. To try and publicly humiliate one of your employes, and one that has put on some great recent performances recently that helped further line your pockets, is really poor form.

        • uncle

People need to hear Dana get
          on them for their performance
          too many lackluster fights
          that should stay on prelims
the main card you need to fight
like a winner. because fans will
stop buying PPV its a hard job
but some1 have to do it.

          • El Gvapo

And Dana can’t speak to these people in private to get that message across? Assuming you have a regular-type job, would you rather your boss took you into his office and gave you a talking about your performance or would you rather he told all of your colleagues about how poor you were before he’d said anything to you? I have absolutely no doubt that fighters need to be reminded that they need to entertain, lord knows I’ve sat through a lot of dull fights in the last year or so, but I think there’s a certain level of conduct and professionalism you should expect from the head of the company.

          • uncle

This is not a regular job ppl pay
            to see fights

  • uncle

I knew he was hype Woodley is a joke Condit will
destroy him if they fight again

  • drkdisciple

Cigano vs El Gvapo, main event on mmaweekly, no one choked in this one.

  • drkdisciple

I just find it funny how Dana just casually says that the winner on Lawler vs Brown gets the next title shot. Dana made that same promise to the winner on Rory vs Woodley. I just wish some of those reporters would confront him with that, but they all seem to be scared of him.

    • Shartnado2, the Sloppy One

didnt you see Dana punk Helwaini a few years ago? Ariel curled up in a ball and then…… WENT TO WORK FOR THE UFC. See how it works?

      • drkdisciple

Good point! I would still like for them to continue calling him out on his “indian giver” type promises.

  • Shartnado2, the Sloppy One

Woodley just beat Condit and Kosheck, THOSE ARENT BIG FIGHTS????

  • anti ufc MMA fan

Anyone else think the UFC is going down hill. It’s lame fight after lame fight after rematch after rematch its not what it was a few years ago. Where I’m from MMA gyms were opening like crazy now they’re all closing. I don’t think the UFC pays the fighters very well either the announcer probably makes more than most fighters. That guy can be out done by any military drill instructor why reward the announcer so much that a fighter this can be a career ender. Anyway I just want to get peoples thoughts so ill be posting same post different comment areas and get the feed back.
