Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva continues to recover from a broken leg suffered in the UFC 168 main event on Dec. 28, but he’s already back to throwing kicks with the repaired leg.  Silva posted a video on Instagram on Monday showing himself using the leg to kick a workout ball.

One can only believe that apprehension will prevent him from full throttle kicks with that leg knowing that next time he breaks it, there will be a real mess with metal, screws and bone. Silva will never never be at the top again.

no way man this is anderson silva a master of the arts he can do anything wait he will show u

    • Ian Price

I don’t think the leg will be his downfall. Leg will hold up fine. His downfall will be well-rounded MMA fighters like Weidman, combined with better wrestling, combined with less aura / fear, now that people see he can be beaten, combined with him getting older.

      • Oscar Sanchez

do you mean the mr. magoo of mma only reason why he beat anderson was freak accidents in his favor first was anderson clowning him and the other one was the leg he can’t beat him and will not beat machida he wont b in the same level and btw i don’t like machida.

I know I know. I can’t deny there were asterisks on both those wins vs Silva. The only thing I can say is, he was winning before both of those unusual stoppages. And Silva didn’t clown around the entire time. I rewatched that fight a few months later, and I think he was clownign for a total of 20-25 seconds, with the majority of the time attacking Chris with hard leg kicks, and punches.

Hes still the best all of wins came with his fists not legs

    • Ray D.

He beat Belfort via front kick.

      • Ian Price

Doesn’t count. No titanium in the ball of his foot!

    • Ian Price

      And knees

    • Baller31

Did you not see the first franklin fight, or the Belfort fight?

  • lowlb

I don’t think he should be allowed to fight with the rod in his tibia. It can be removed after a year. His tibia will be stronger than before.. But unfair advantage to kick people with a titanium reinforced shin. …in my opinion..

    • Jason Tracey

there are many fighters ex. jake ellenberger who has titanium plates in their hands. People have been fighting with metal in their bodies for years and no one has complained thus far

    • MuayThaiFood

It’s there provide stabilization while it’s healing and to add strength so that it doesn’t break again. It’s inside the bone and not on the surface of the bone and it’s not going to make his kicks do any more damage. Why do you feel it’s unfair?

      • Ian Price

I think they’ll remove it before he fights again. His leg should be a bit stronger, actually, although it could certainly break again, but it wouldn’t be in the same place.

      • RubeKegal

Is your middle name Aesop? BECAUSE YOU’RE TELLING FABLES!! How can someone say “It gives you no advantage”. Also the titanium isn’t “inside the bone” as you suggest. Absolutely absurd.

        • MuayThaiFood

Is your middle name ignorant? Here’s a link to the absolutely absurd procedure they performed on Anderson’s leg. Just how absurd would it be to think that somehow that could be on the outside of the bone. It never ceases to amaze me how idiots like you can post without even having even read an article about the subject first.

          • RubeKegal

MuayThaiMoron thinks a titanium rod in your leg gives you no advantage. Such a complete jackass.

          • MuayThaiFood

Still got s–t for brains and diarrhea of the mouth I see. The rod is INSIDE THE BONE smart guy! You still don’t get that? Do you think it’s going to make him kick harder than before? His fibula is going to heal without being set back into place. Is that an advantage too?

          • RubeKegal

MuayThai, you are a moron with no life. Literally responding to each of my brilliant posts within minutes. You are like the retards who think TRT doesn’t give you an advantage.

          • MuayThaiFood

You use a lot of words to say nothing. You’re such a genius, why don’t you try to actually articulate an argument. Are you afraid that you’ll look ignorant and immature? Trust me, you can’t do any worse than you already have.

          • RubeKegal

I think your biological mother had the profession of street hooker. <– My articulate argument

          • MuayThaiFood

I think your biological mother co-starred in a Mexican donkey show with your biological father.

  • Piotr

Anyone else think he’s going a little too far too fast? Let the leg heal, man!

    • Joe Dog

He’s kicking a big soft ball filled with air, not Mark Hunt.

    The Anderson Silvanator -_-

  • Milosc

    The man is a diamond

    • earlsommins

Not sure what you mean by this but diamonds shatter if hit with a hammer bro. They hard, not tought, look it up bro.

      • Steve Jakobs

diamonds are the hardest substance on the planet and there is no way on earth a hammer can smash them. That’s insane.

  • Seth

He’s amazing…I mean, his abillity to recover. Im still not fan of his, but man – I wish to recover that fast at his age.

  • TheCerealKiller

Clean breaks heal faster than ligaments. I can show you plenty of xrays with broken titanium stems and rods. It gives you no advantage. I work for DePuy and most of you have no idea what you’re talking about. All you Wiki doctors are killing me.

    • MikeMcK

Wait a second… What are you trying to say. If Anderson has that rod in his leg and kicks someone in the head, it’s like taking an aluminum bat to they’re head isn’t it? I mean I get that the rod is smaller…. But still.

This reminds me of back in the day WWF. Lex Luger had a “steel plate” in his forearm and his finisher became a running forearm to the head. It was like cheating. No one else was allowed to hit someone in the head with a steel plate! 😉

    • RubeKegal

You are a fool if you think there is no advantage. Truly a fool

    • Baller31

Agreed, no advantage. If there were an advantage we’d see a huge increase in titanium implants in mma

      • RubeKegal

Pure poppycock. It def gives an advantage

  • RubeKegal

MuayThaitaniumLegs thinks putting steel into your body to be used as a weapon gives you no advantage. Hilarious!! Tu mama hace el amor con mi perro!

  • Bwuk

It does indeed give an advantage, however only for Anderson’s specific body type, ectomorphs. Longer limbs thin bones, meaning he has superior reach but inferior strength in the bones. A mesomorph like belfort or machida or endomorph like hunt or bigfoot wouldn’t benefit at all from having a metal rod, however any ectomorph does. Now Anderson can kick with his left leg without turning his hips in, and because of the rod plus the fact that bones heal stronger than they were before, Silva never has to worry about breaking his leg again, which is a huge relief for an ectomorph.

And silva also benefits in another way, wasn’t he very close to retiring before this leg break? Now he got his very wanted break with his family so he isn’t ”tired” anymore. Now he can focus on finishing his career in his prime and going for that second belt. (not MW)
