A lightweight bout between undefeated Myles Jury and hard hitting Abel Trujillo has been added to the UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Stephens fight card in San Antonio. UFC officials announced the match-up on Thursday.
Jury (14-0) officially made his UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale, submitting Chris Saunders in the opening round. The 25-year-old fighter had two appearances on the popular reality series. He tore his ACL in the first episode of The Ultimate Fighter 13 and couldn’t compete on the show. After winning his way into The Ultimate Fighter 15 fighter house, he was defeated by Al Iaquinta by split decision. The bout earned the fighters the Fight of the Season honors.
Following the win over Saunders, Jury defeated Michael Johnson by unanimous decision, Ramsey Nijem by knockout, Mike Ricci by split decision, and Diego Sanchez by unanimous decision in his last outing.
Trujillo (12-5, 1 NC) made his promotional debut in December 2012, defeating Marcus LeVesseur by technical knockout. He lost his second fight in the UFC by unanimous decision to undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov. After having a five-fight winning streak snapped by Nurmagomedov, Trujillo was matched up against Roger Bowling. The fight was ruled a No Contest after Trujillo landed an illegal knee that rendered Bowling unable to continue. A rematch with Bowling was made for his next fight at UFC on FOX 9. Trujillo defeated Bowling by TKO. The 30-year-old fighter is coming off a Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night performance against Jamie Varner at UFC 169.
UFC Fight Night 44: Swanson vs. Stephenson takes place on June 28 at the AT & T Center in San Antonio. The event is headlined by featherweight bout between top ten ranked fighters Cub Swanson and Jeremy Stephens.
