Christian HolleyAfter spending the first 10 fights of his MMA career in Europe, British born Christian “The Animal” Holley is set to make his way east to Dubai, UAE, to make his debut for the ONE FC promotion on Aug. 29.

Having gone undefeated in his career so far, Holley credits his success to the fact that he doesn’t put the emphasis on his record.

“I don’t fight for the sake of fighting,” Holley told MMAWeekly.com. “I fight to better myself. I train to better myself and I have been in no hurry to do it that’s way my record is still intact.”

Looking ahead to his ONE FC debut on Aug. 29, Holley feels this could be the start of the next chapter in his career.

“It excites me,” he said. “I’m looking forward to it and you’ll be seeing a lot more of me.”

In Dubai, Holley (10-0) will be facing the biggest test of his career to date when he matches up with former top-rated lightweight and UFC veteran Roger Huerta (21-7-1, 1NC).

“I think it’s a great match,” said Holley. “I’m working hard in every area and you will see on Aug. 29 what I have to do to win.”

For Holley, now that he’s moving on to new opportunities, his goal is simple, to take home a title.

“My goal is to be the champion,” said Holley.

“Thank you for your support and prepare for some action on Aug. 29 in Dubai.”

It’s a wonderful opportunity for him to excel at a big stage and put his name in the public domain. A record is good but it doesn’t mean much when facing an opponent who is way more experienced than you. It’s great that he has such an opportunity to test himself, and should he losses, he can take comfort and learn but should he wins, then his name would be catapulted, especially in UK and perhaps Spain, where he fought predominantly. It’s an interesting matchup pitting a young and hungry tiger against an experienced tiger who wants to announce to the world that he is back stronger. Hope both do well and will be remembered regardless of the outcome. There is a big expat UK community as there is for US in Dubai; both will get their share of support.
