The UFC and Spike TV have finalized this weekend’s “The Ultimate Fighter Season 12” finale fight card including the match-up to decide this year’s champion. Team GSP members Jonathan Brookins and Michael Johnson square off in the final.
Brookins made his way to the finale with a dominant win over teammate Kyle Watson, while Johnson got the nod via split decision over Nam Phan.
The two lightweights will battle it out to decide who will be the next “Ultimate Fighter” champion on Saturday night.
Also announced for the main card on Spike TV will be former Team Koscheck member Nam Phan dropping back down to featherweight to take on Leonard Garcia in what promises to be an explosive fight. Garcia was originally scheduled to face Tyler Toner, but when the opportunity came up to fight Phan, plans changed.
Veterans Stephan Bonnar and Igor Pokrajac will meet in a light heavyweight bout, while “Ultimate Fighter Season 3” winner Kendall Grove gets Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace Demian Maia, on the main card.
Johny Hendricks will look to keep his undefeated record intact when he faces Rick Story, also on the televised portion of the fight card.
On the undercard, American Top Team fighter Rich Attonito looks to keep his winning streak alive against Renzo Gracie student Dave Branch. Tyler Toner remains on the card, but instead of facing Leonard Garcia, he will now get Team Quest’s Ian Loveland.
A pair of fights have also been confirmed pitting Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck for the finale with Kyle Watson facing Sako Chivitchian and Aaron Wilkinson against Cody McKenzie.
The card is rounded out by several former WEC fighters making their UFC debuts with Will Campuzano fighting Nick Pace, and Fredson Paixao taking on Pablo Garza.
The televised card will begin on Spike TV on Saturday night at 9 p.m. ET.
