Branch shoots for a double leg but Rich stuffs it fairly easily, now they clinch against the cage.  Branch is trying to work hand control and at the same time trying to change levels, they break and separate.  Both fighters are looking calm, focused, and composed, solid footwork by Rich.  Another bum rush by Branch but to no avail.  A nice right to the body from an overzealous Branch.  A left to the head of Branch connects from Rich and it briefly wobbles him.  Branch shoots on an aggressive Rich and earns the takedown and is now in side control working elbows and hammer fists, looking to pass.  Branch goes for a Darce choke but gives up position and is back in Rich’s guard.  Rich tries to stand up but is taken back down and Branch is in his half guard.  A few nice punches from Branch as he postures up.  Rich tries to post but is eating punches, he briefly gets to his feet but Branch slams him back down.  Branch earns full mount and then eventually takes his back but Rich uses his momentum and spins him around, allowing him to stand up.  The round ends. David Branch takes Rich Attonito's back

A very nice straight left from Rich opens the round and connects on the side of David’s head.  A clinch ensues with Branch landing some nice shots via dirty boxing to the body and head of Rich’s head.  Rich is doing a fine job of using underhooks and hand control to keep Branch at bay.  A beautiful knee to the body by Rich can be heard with a nice thud.  Another beautiful hook to the body in the clinch by Rich.  Branch turns Rich into the cage and has his back and is looking for the takedown, however Rich is using great wrist control to stave off the attempt, and he turns into him as they clinch against the cage.  Branch uses a nice hip throw and takes Rich to the ground from the clinch.  He is now in side control and is landing elbows and knees to the body.  Rich gets Dave back into half-guard but Dave is still controlling the majority of the round. MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 for Branch.

Round 3:

David Branch in back mount

David Branch in back mount

A solid single leg takedown by Branch opens the round and he immediately takes Rich’s back.  They are against the cage now with Branch still holding Rich’s back looking for a takedown, and he gets it with authority.  Branch is now in Rich’s guard and he looks like he wants to ride this one out.  Rich is working fromt he bottom with punches and elbows from the bottom, but it won’t win him the fight.  Rich’s corner, “Find a way to win, Rich. Find a way to win.”  Branch now has Rich’s back again, and is looking to sink in the RNC.  Shots to the body of Rich are trying to soften him up.  Branch postures and fires down some punches to the side of Rich’s head.  David is still trying to flatten Rich out but to no avail.  Rich pulls out the back with thirty seconds left, but once again Branch immediately takes his back.  Rich ends up turning into him and they are clinched against the cage.  The round ends, not exactly the most exciting fight.  MMAWeekly.com scores round three 10-9 and the fight 30-27 for Branch
