Ultimate Fight Night 5
Wednesday, June 28th
Anderson Silva -220
Chris Leben +180
-Anderson Silva is the favorite at -220, meaning that one would have to bet $220 in order to win $100 on Silva. Chris Leben is the underdog at +180, meaning that one would have to bet $100 in order to win $180 on Leben. Silva actually opened up as a much bigger favorite at -325, which means that a lot of the early betting has gone towards Leben.
Stephan Bonnar -185
Rashad Evans +155
-Stephan Bonnar is the slight favorite over Rashad Evans in this battle of TUF 1 vs. TUF 2. Both of these fighters won extremely close decisions on the previous Ultimate Fight Night show in April. The opening odds were slightly closer than this, meaning that a lot of the early bets have gone towards Bonnar.
Jonathan Goulet -185
Luke Cummo +155
-Interesting odds for this fight. Luke Cummo has far more name value than his opponent because of the exposure from TUF 2, and Jonathan Goulet is coming off a quick knockout loss at the hands of Duane “Bang” Ludwig in January. However, Goulet had ten consecutive wins prior to the Ludwig fight, so he is the favorite over Cummo. Goulet was originally listed at -200, which means that a lot of early bettors liked their chances with Cummo.
Josh Koscheck -475
Dave Menne +375
-Josh Koscheck is the biggest favorite on the entire card. The oddsmakers would appear to either have a lot of faith in Koscheck, or very little faith in Dave Menne (or both).
Mark Hominick -150
Jorge Gurgel +120
-Mark Hominick is the slight favorite over Jorge Gurgel, who is fighting for the first time since having reconstructive surgery on his ACL last year. Hominick beat Yves Edwards in his last UFC appearance, but then lost in Canada to Shooto fighter Hatsu Hioki.
Jon Fitch -225
Thiago Alves +185
-Jon Fitch, who is coming off a victory over Josh Burkman in April, is the betting favorite over Thiago Alves.
Jason Lambert -185
Branden Lee Hinkle +155
-Jason Lambert is a mild favorite over Branden Lee Hinkle, who demolished Sean Gannon in his UFC debut and then lost a fairly one-sided fight to Jeff Monson in his next UFC fight.
