The news sprung to life on Saturday that Zuffa, LLC, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship rocked the MMA world, once again, with its acquisition of Strikeforce, the company’s leading competitor.

Questions immediately resounded about the fighters and whether or not they would immediately be brought into the UFC fold, if the Strikeforce was no more, would the UFC take over Strikeforce’s Showtime deal, and more.

UFC and Zuffa chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta, UFC president Dana White, and Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker held a joint conference call on Monday, answering all of these questions and more from members of the media.

  • If any of you reporters get to speak with Dana or someone who would know again ask if this affects the EA video game deal. Haven’t seen any mention of that yet.

  • Pretty sure that any and all Strikeforce related contracts, including the video game, will remain intact until the contract is fulfilled. That’s why Strikeforce will operate “business as usual” for now. They have numerous contracts that likely need to be taken care of, most specifically with Showtime, before major changes can take place.

But if we get the opportunity, we’ll check in with the man himself.
