UFC Fight Night 34 will mark the first UFC event held in Singapore and the first event featured on the UFC’s new subscription-based digital network. It will also be the promotional debut of Pride veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri. He was originally expected to face Hacran Dias, but an injury forced Dias out of the fight. He now faces UFC newcomer Sean Soriano.
Kawajiri (32-7-2) is riding a five-fight winning streak but hasn’t fought in a year. He holds a win over UFC lightweight contender Josh Thomson and has been in the ring with Gilbert Melendez twice. He’s faced Eddie Alvarez, Shinya Aoki, JZ Cavalcante and holds two wins over former Dream lightweight champion Joachim Hansen.
