UFC LogoThe Ultimate Fighting Championship on Saturday revealed that its second live event on Fox Sports 1 will also mark its second event in Indianapolis.

The UFC is slated to be a key player in the launch of Fox’s new national sports network on Aug. 17 with a live event at TD Gardens in Boston. Just 11 days later, on Aug. 28, the UFC will return to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The last time the promotion was at Bankers Life Fieldhouse was on Sept. 25, 2010, for UFC 119. Frank Mir knocked out Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic in the UFC 119 main event.

The Aug. 28 card in Indianapolis doesn’t have any announced bouts yet, but will likely fill up fast with the date announced and tickets going on sale June 14.

The UFC is slated to produce three live fight events on Fox Sports 1 within the first three week’s of the networks launch: Aug. 17 in Boston, Aug. 28 in Indianapolis, and Sept. 4, which is likely to take place in Brazil.

The Sept. 4 event is also a two-hour block of leading up to the premier of season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter, also on FS1, and featuring Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano as coaches.

Will be interesting to see how they fill these cards. White already said the first event on August 17 will be the best free card ever. This has to mean there is a championship fight as I dont see what non-title bout could match the prestige of free fights for the belt that they’ve had before. Yet keep in mind champions usually like three months or so to prepare and consider the upcoming schedule:

    Heavyweight: title defense May 25
Light heavyweight: just defended April 27, Jones injured
    Middleweight: title defense July 6
    Welterweight: unscheduled
Lightweight: #1 contender to be determined May 25
    Featherweight: title defense August 3
Bantamweight: interim title defense June 15
    Flyweight: title defense July 27
Womens: Ultimate Fighter taping into the fall

So it seems the only possibility is one of the champions has to quickly turn around and defend their belt again in a couple months or less, the winner of Grant/Maynard has to turn around and prepare for the championship fight in about that time, Jones’s toe quickly heals and he fights for his belt on free tv (unlikely), or GSP vs Hendricks is on free tv (snowballs chance in hell).

I dont see how they can stack that card, not to mention they need fights left over for these ones to follow within weeks.
