DaMarques Johnson - TUF 9The recent UFC on Fuel TV 5 event in Nottingham, England, was the perfect debut for Renzo Gracie black belt Gunnar Nelson, but his success was the harbinger of DaMarques Johnson’s demise. Johnson was recently released by the UFC following the loss.

“And the hits keep on coming… No longer a UFC fighter,” Johnson tweeted on Tuesday.

Johnson made his way to the Octagon via the ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter, where he lost to James Wilks in the final.

He bounced back from the TUF 9 Finale loss to win back-to-back bouts, but then alternated between wins and losses before landing in the midst of his current three-fight skid.

The first-round submission loss to Nelson – after losing consecutive bouts to John Maguire and Mike Swick – was enough for UFC officials to send Johnson packing.

DaMarques Johnson’s overall professional record currently stands at 16-12.

Too bad. Johnson always had a good attitude and didn’t know how to have a boring fight.

don’t worry, he’ll be back after he gets a few wins outside the octagon. he’s a good short-notice type of guy when he’s not coming off a KO loss 3 weeks out

DeMarques is a great guy. I hope he keeps his head high, and puts some W’s together. He can get back in the UFC with minimal effort I’m sure.
