UFC Pres Dana White Says Condit vs. Diaz 2 Set

Posted on by Ken Pishna

Always expect the unexpected, or so the saying goes.

Just when it appeared that Carlos Condit was willing to sit out for several months and wait for Georges St-Pierre to get healthy… well, that’s not going to happen.

Condit instead has agreed to an immediate rematch with Nick Diaz, according to tweets by UFC president Dana White on Tuesday evening.

“That rematch can happen later on in the future. No one’s afraid of Nick, but we have to do what’s best for his career and in my opinion and the people around me and the advice that we’ve been taking, the best fight and the only fight is Georges St-Pierre,” Condit’s manager, Malki Kawa told MMAWeekly.com earlier in the day on Tuesday.

But a lot changed from the time Kawa spoke with MMAWeekly.com and Tuesday evening. Not least of which was an apparent sweetening of the pot for Condit to put his newly earned interim UFC welterweight title back on the block against Diaz.

No details of the rematch or the agreement to make it happen have surfaced, but the promotion on Tuesday did reveal that UFC on Fox 4 is slated for Aug. 4 in Los Angeles. That event is going to need some star power, so it isn’t out of the realm that Condit vs. Diaz II might be tapped for that event. There are also a number of other pay-per-view events on tap from May to August that could utilize the bout as a headliner.

But for now, it’s unclear when and where the fight will land, although White and Kawa both tweeted that Kawa and Condit will be in Las Vegas on Friday for an announcement.

“I didn’t feel like it was all that close. I felt like I dominated almost every round,” said Condit following Saturday night’s initial meeting. Now we’ll get to see if he can do it again.

The majority has spoken. As much as most people hate Dana, he listens to his clients and gives them what they want. This is the reason boxing is a dying sport, not because of the bouts, but because the fights people demand to see never happen without managers, lawyers, promoters, investors, blood tests, dates, etc. etc.

They don’t need to put it on FOX, I will gladly pony up another $40+ to see a rematch

    • clizzark

Eh, the majority rightfully thought Condit won. Why in the hell does Nick Diaz get a 3rd chance now? This is really, really lame. Let Condit fight someone more deserving.

      • Enfo

It really seems unfair to Carlos, he has nothing to win and everything too lose…
This is the way it should be:
        Condit vs GSP in November
        Koscheck vs Diaz
        Hendericks vs Ellenberger
winner those two fights square off and then whoever wins there gets shot at winner Condit vs GSP

That way Diaz has to win two hard fights before title shot. That my friends, is FAIR!

        • http://www.facebook.com/tony.salas Tony

          Totally agree!

        • KBEsq

I am someone who thinks Condit won the fight without controversy. However, I don’t think it’s true that he has nothing to gain from this rematch. That fight did not sit well with a lot of fans of MMA and Condit fans, myself included.

If Condit fights Diaz and wins again, I think that will put any complaining or controversy to rest. I think that’s a huge gain for Condit.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1833297825 reubinstretch

I couldn’t agree with you more. Condit has worked too hard to do re-work. It’s like getting your degree and all of a sudden the dean said you have to go back and repeate the 7th grade.

          • RonnieV

On hind site, if Carlos doesn’t fight again, it’s like getting your degree and not doing anything with it for a year. Carlos will make more money with a rematch, if he beats Nick, he will make even more money with a GSP fight.

        • MrAdidas

          Check & MATE!

        • thomasgardner

I agree i dont think Nick deserved the first fight. It seems like now days all u have to do is fight once and grab a mic and say i deserve a title shot and u get it. Some of these ppl get these title shots on just there name alone and i do not think that is fair at all. i remember the days when u had to climb a ladder just to be considered for a shot at the title. personally I think that the UFC is becoming a joke.

          • williampucci

Well that is exactly what GSP did to get his title shot against Matt Hughes after losing to Hughes. I agree with you it seems that is all you have to do. I remember Nick Diaz getting cut from the UFC then he wins in Strikeforce and he is given the title shot without winning one fight while back in the UFC. His first fight back in the UFC he loses to Condit so Diaz doesn’t deserve a title shot. I think Carlos should wait for GSP.
Oh by the way isn’t Diaz retired?

          • RonnieV

Williampucci, you need a history lesson.

      • thomasgardner

Nick gets another chance because he is a better crier than a fighter

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1333420298 bad_boy

if majority thought that Condit won then why are we getting a rematch. OBVIOUSLY NOT!!! the majority knows that Diaz won that’s why we’re getting a rematch and don’t say because Diaz is a crybaby because that’s the weakest thing you can say. most of you are uneducated in the MMA world that you guys tend to forget the fights in the past Diaz fought in the UFC when most judges didn’t know how to score points when fighter grappled and which led to Diaz getting robbed on most of his fights going to a decision. That’s why he said what he said after the Condit fight. Do your homework, watch the fights on youtube or what ever and be educated.

        • adunners

I think you need to look at fightmetric. Diaz got out worked and handled in 3, 4, and 5 (TD not withstanding.) He won round 1 and drew round 2. I would agree in general with his comments about fighters who run. But condit looped out and tagged him just about every time he was pressed. He out game planned a sub-par diaz who looked frustrated and constantly went for TDs and could only secure one in the 5th after a missed spinning back fist. Also the whole “baby leg kicks” Last time I check he buckled his ass in the 4th with a baby leg kick so Diaz is a cry baby in regards to this fight as he was just out classed on the feet.

But eitheeway he gets his rematch and he will get beat again as he has one speed and thats move forward. I dont get what diaz fans think will be different this time around as condit has his timing and style down. by the end it was embarassing. 1,2,1 leg kick head kick. repeat. Then toss in knees and spinning back fists cause diaz could do nothing.

I do love that when someone disagrees with someone who is a stockton boy fan they are just “ignint” and dont know the sport. sounds good guess I will just stand over here being ignorant with all these facts to back me up…

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1803069534 wmwalls jr

Why doesnt Dana stop kissing Diaz’a ass. This is not right Condit should get GSP and then the loser of that should fight Diaz. This is not fair to Condit. I will not watch this rematch. But if Diaz wins I will watch GSP beat his ass down!!

      • TKD

This rematch is a JOKE! The first time around Dana switched GSP’s opponent from Condit with Diaz. That fight never happened, but now he is trying to make sure Diaz-GSP happens again.

        Dana White is an a-hole!

I hope Condit beats the living hell out of Diaz the cry baby again. Maybe this time the degenrate will be a man and standy by his word and quit MMA!

        • RonnieV

According to Dana White’s Twitter, Condit wants the rematch.

      • MuayThaiFood

And that is exactly why Dana wants this rematch. They put it on Fox and it gives him one more chance to get Diaz vs. GSP which will sell a lot more PPV than Condit vs. GSP because you’re not the only one who wants to see Diaz get his ass beat down. If Diaz thought Condit was a bigger challenge than GSP then he will be in for a rude awakening. It’s a win win for Dana. If Diaz wins it’s a going to sell alot of PPV and if Condit wins more decisively then it will help that PPV as well. It could backfire though if it ends with the same result as the first fight.

    • RonnieV

MONEY! MONEY! MONEY! (play The Apprentice theme now). Before all the Diaz haters cry foul, there are a few things you all need to consider, and it all has to do with money. Not just for the UFC, but for Condit, GSP, and Nick Diaz. I’m the biggest Diaz fan, so of course I’m excited. But think about it. Condit won the fight with lots of controversy, and in not very exciting fashion. Him sitting on the interim belt for 10-11 months to fight GSP is not good for the UFC, and I think as of right now the hype for that fight will be a tougher sell unless Condit fights again. Condits best shot against GSP, would to be the stick and move approach he just used, and I doubt GSP will press the action as much as Diaz (especially after a 20 month lay-off). GSP has a huge following, but IMO it’s a not very sexy PPV right now! Condit defends his title once, it will be a bigger sell, especially if it’s against Diaz. As far as Condit’s next opponent, Diaz is the only opponent that makes sense, and will be a big sell for the UFC. For every person that hates Diaz, there’s a fan that loves watching him fight, heck even a good portion of his haters like his fighting style. No welterweight would be a bigger sell against Condit than Diaz right now, and quite frankly no other welterweight deserves it. Ellenberger maybe, but he’s fighting Diego Sanchez next week, and he’s also already lost to Condit. Regardless what the Diaz haters say, it was a close fight, and that decision should have gone 48/47 for either fighter. Diaz said his piece in the post fight interview, and nobody has heard from him since (right MMAWEEKLY?) He rarely/doesn’t use his twitter or any social media. So don’t say Diaz has been bitching ever since. His fans, his coach, and a bunch of MMA professionals spoke for him. A second fight against Diaz, Condit will probably double his purse, and it will make his pay day bigger if he fights GSP. For GSP to make more money, he needs Condit to fight again to make their fight a better sell. Of all the welterweights, GSP & Diaz have the biggest fan bases, the UFC knows this, and they will continue to try to make that fight happen. Yeah, I’m a biased Diaz fan, but when it’s all said and done, it’s all about the money!

      • TKD

Money is the only thing Dana cares about. I agree, RonnieV . Dana never wanted to book a GSP-Condit fight. The money is (was) clearly in a GSP-Diaz fight. Now that Diaz lost, Dana knows GSP-Condit will sell far less than the GSP-Diaz fight. This is his chance to give Diaz the opportunity to fight GSP in the Fall. Want proof? Let’s see if Diaz wins…Will Dana be pushing him to take another fight before GSP? Hell no!

        • RonnieV

I don’t argue with that at all. It’s also the best financial option for Condit. He beats Diaz again, the GSP fight will be a bigger sell. Plus, he’ll probably make much more money on a Diaz rematch than he would against any other welterweight. From what I’ve seen today, Condit wants the rematch.

          • RonnieV

“It’s probably some contract issues, maybe some posturing — I know I was (posturing) this week, trying to leverage certain things here and there. That’s a fight they definitely want — they contested it, they were the first ones saying they wanted a rematch, they were the ones saying Carlos didn’t win. For us it’s a no-brainer and it’s really the only fight out there for us right now considering Georges St-Pierre is on a long layoff. If the fight’s not happening, it’s not on our end. Everything will be ironed out Friday, but as of right now Carlos spoke to Dana White and said he would fight Nick. That’s where we’re at right now.”

            - Malki Kawa to Mauro Ranallo on The MMA Show

I called it, Condit wants this fight as much as Diaz. He’ll make more money on a rematch with Diaz than any other fight.

    • breakingnewsinc

Can we get a fight this time?
If so …. Diaz in 2.

Any word from Nick or Cesar? Last word from Cesar was that Nick would be taking a long break and we wouldn’t see him until the end of the year or 2013.

    • bajafox

I really hope that’s not true, this fight needs to happen. If Condit wins again the same way then so be it but I feel like Condit robbed what some of us thought would be an all out war. He is clearly afraid to engage with Diaz and the 2nd fight will be more decisive than the first with Diaz clearly proving he is the better fighter. I call the 2nd fight Diaz by submission in the 3rd

      • shaman

        agreed

Condit fought scared, and this is no way to stake a “championship”. I don’t see anyone really respecting a champ who turns his back and runs away the whole fight

        • TKD

I will guess that you have never been in a real fight in your life. You don’t stand in front of someone and just throw kicks and punches until someone is knocked out.

Condit fought a strategic fight that WON HIM THE MATCH! You people act like he was fighting on a football field and was able to run away from Diaz. Diaz had opportunities to get at Condit. By your standards Diaz fought a pu$$y fight too!

          • shaman

            I’m 3-1

  • shamrock130

I thought Carlos won that fight. The fact that he’s putting his title shot on the line, to fight that bitchy Diaz when je doen’t have to, shows that he is a F*****g man. Nothing but respect
    Fuck Diaz

  • Mario

    THIS IS EXCELLENT NEWS!

    :)

  • MikeMc1983

I’m sure I’ll get flamed for this.
    -
I believe the problem people had with the first fight was that people had nick over rated in their minds. They believe he’s something that he’s not. The fact that condit was able to beat him in lackluster fashion hadn’t crossed their mind. If nick was a great force, (their minds) then its not possiable that he loses to a lackluster Carlos. They feel like nick would have to have been cheated to lose in that manner. Like I’ve said a few times, had you told people that think highly of Diaz before the fight exactly what condit was planning on trying to do. They would have been ecstatic, and picked Diaz to dominate.
    -
The only problem is… Nick just isn’t that good. Condit showed to have better stand up, and he’s not top of the food chain standing. Nick is a decent well rounded fighter that isn’t exceptional at anything. You could argue the cardio point, but that’s not a skill in, and of its self. It has been his greatest tool however. He also saves cardio by not throwing strikes hard. Kind of a, I can throw twice as many if I throw them half as hard. Which has worked out for him because the guys who get into brawls with him don’t throw like that. So they get tired faster, and they slow down.
    Instead, condit didn’t do that.
    -
People could argue fighters trying to just tire a guy out so you can lay it on him later is a b***h move. Smart, but a pu$$y way to fight. That’s what people said about Ali when he did it to foreman anyhow…

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001794712361 brandonwheaton

It’s not that Nick was over rated, people are pissed cause Condit was over rated.

Condit ran his mouth about “blah blah I finish people blah blah” and then didn’t show up to fight.

Nick said he’d come to fight, and he did.

There’s a reason Dana tells guys like Condit & Fitch to get lost. He demonstrated why on saturday.

    • DrkDisciple

Did you ever consider that Condit is the one over rated? How about how lucky he was to get split decisions over Ellengerger and Kampman? How about how lucky he was that a ref stopped a fight 7 seconds before the end where Rory Macdonald had him beat? How about running for 5 rounds from Diaz and still getting the win? In my book your beloved Natural Born Runner is the one over-rated!Good job Dana is setting the re-match.

      • MikeMc1983

I only mentioned outright Diaz being over rated because people talked about him being something special to begin with. I didn’t really get that vibe from condit people. They seemed to understand strengths and weakness more. However I thought that when I called condit beating Diaz in lackluster fashion, I was kind of saying it anyhow.
Whether condit just had a lackluster performance, or whether he was overrated. He still beat nick that way. The whole point I was trying to make was that the people who believe Diaz is something special cannot except that not only did he lose, but to a lackluster version of condit. I’m fine if someone wants to call condit overrated. If so, it drops nicks standing even farther.

        • aleksanderromero

Nick Diaz is something special. Other than being a top 3 welterweight, a borderline top 10 poundforpounder and the former Strikeforce and WEC champion, he is arguably the p4p most exciting fighter in the world. I mean exciting inside the cage of course. The Condit fight wasn’t the most exciting fight in the world, but just look at his fights against Sanchez, Parisian, Gomi, Zaromskis, Daley and Penn… There is a reason he was paid 4 times the money Condit made, an exciting fighter in his own right!

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001041200903 gabrielquintero

Ur the third person to say carlos won against kampman.. carlos lost the split descision jesus christ do some research his only loss in the ufc

        • RubeKegal

gabriel, dont waste your typing time. People on here are morons. They can’t think for themselves. If Rogan/Dana says something, they immediately drink the fruit punch without questioning, “Could this be a ploy to make more money?” To say these people are stupid is a gross understatement. These people are a VERY small step up from a drooling vegetable…pure imbeciles.

          • bigdog333187

Exactly. Let the idiots stay idiots. Let’s realize this for what it is: Nick Diaz crybabying himself a rematch and his sub par intelligence fan base rallying behind him. Even MMA Weekly had the bout scored 50 – 45 for Condit

    • BlackDog2009

Condit is the one that was overrated, Jackson had to give him the ‘running’ gameplan to luck out a win.

      • TKD

        I agree with RubeKegal & bigdog333187!

        • RonnieV

Seriously Bro! Half of your posts are “I agree with Rube Kegal or Big Dog”. I give you more credit than that, because once in a while you make sense. Rube Kegal has never made a rational point, he’s as open-minded as the trashy Diaz fans (not me of course). Obviously I’m stoked about this rematch, and as much as you guys say Diaz bitched. I ask you to find a single quote from Diaz since Saturday. He has a twitter account that he doesn’t use, the guy hardly uses any social media. It’s not Diaz that was bitching, it’s his coach, his fans, and a ton of MMA professionals that went to bat for him.

          • RubeKegal

I’m the king of rationale, you’re the one making up fake numbers about Diaz’s strikes landed and I called you out on it. Fight Metric has Condit outstriking Diaz convincingly, yet you say Diaz outstruck Condit every round except 1. You’re a clown, like Diaz. It’s a good match

          • RonnieV

I saw the Fight Metric numbers, which is why I went through the fight myself. Compustrike is more accurate, and their stats say Diaz landed more punches in two rounds. Another round, Condit landed one more strike, but he wasn’t controlling the ring, and he wasn’t the aggressor.

          • RubeKegal

Compustrike isn’t accurate at all. Did they count any of Carlos’ leg kicks? In the 1st round alone Carlos had about 20 leg kicks, according to the compustrike protocol, he landed less total strikes. Ronnie, you are a Diaz fan running out of excuses.

    • BenchWarmer

Condit came to win, Diaz came to fight. I will always buy a Diaz fight because he comes to fight everytime, win or lose, he holds up his end of my entertainment and that is all I ask for. Condit did a great GSP impression, his game plan was to win on points, he came in and scored points with kicks but was unwilling to stand in the pocket and exchange. I don’t judge him for that, however, when a guy calls himself a “natural born killer” i don’t expect to see 25 minutes of stick and move. I have seen Condit fight many times and he has a reputation of smothering people relentlessly on the feet or ground and is usually very exciting to watch. I was disappointed that we didn’t get the fireworks we expected, instead we got 25 minutes of Diaz chasing Condit around. GSP used to finish guys and was an awesome ppv buy. Now he stays as safe as possible and wins a decision. If this is Condit’s new mantra I am done buying his fights, unless Nick or another true “fighter” is on the under card.

      • KBEsq

I don’t understand why everyone puts all the blame on Condit. Is it because he got the win? In my mind (and I agree with you that the fight was a disappointment), Diaz is just as much at fault. They’re in a small cage. Diaz could have chased Condit down. If Diaz moved a little faster, and Condit still ran, it would have made Condit have to choose between running even more, and looking really bad, and engaging with Diaz.

In my opinion, Diaz completely allowed Condit to run because he literally moved like a zombie in the cage. Condit slowly jogged out of the corner, and Diaz just sauntered towards him the whole fight. Diaz is just as much to blame, but no one gives him any blame because he got the loss.

        • RonnieV

KBEsq – There are many fans like myself, that have no problem with Condit’s game plan. He fought a smart fight, and he was a gracious winner. I’m still a fan of Condit (but a bigger fan of Diaz) I have just issue with the judging.

  • mark248am

I think this is unfair and it feels like the UFC (Dana) doesn’t like Condit much. They keep shuffling him around just to please GSP and because GSP would rather fight Diaz we’re going back to a rematch in hopes Diaz wins this times around? This is BS. Condit was the better fighter and it wasn’t a close decision. I have no idea how Diaz thinks he won…

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001794712361 brandonwheaton

Uh, it was close decision in everyones mind (Dana scored it 3-2, CONDIT HIMSELF SAID DIAZ WON ROUND 5, etc etc), except the BOXING judges.

      • mark248am

I also gave Diaz round 5… but gave condit the other 4 so that’s not a close decision. Close decision is when you can’t really tell who won until the results get announced but in this case it was obvious condit won before the announcement.

    • shaman

The problem is not how much Dana likes Condit, but the fact that people have trouble respecting his “champ”

Look at the photo above of the UFC Interim Welterweight champion actually turned around running away from his opponent

    • shaman

It may actually be one of his spinning ‘backwhiffs’, but dancing around the Octagon delivering intentionally insignificant shots to an opponent’s leg is almost cheating, and a cowardly image to sell

  • kwite11

@mikemc1983 I respect your opinion, but if nick isnt that great at fighting than why not stand toe to toe and fight , obviously condit felt that he couldn’t stand in front of nick and that’s why he ran most of the time, and also nick to his back with ease and almost pulled of a submission. So to sit there and say nick is an average fighter is crazy… Don’t forget that Dana brought nick over from strike force to fight GSP without having to fight himself up the ladder to fight for the championship , if condit was so great and better than nick he wouldn’t of got over looked in the first place…. Anybody can run and land punches to a guy that is moving forward agressively, that’s not hard to do…. And the reason they are fighting again is because condit knows he didn’t deserve that title, so now his back is against the wall and has no choice but to fight nick Diaz again, condit went into the fight hoping to get a decision that’s what he trained for a decision, he didn’t go in there andfight forthe title like every other champion has done….

    • MikeMc1983

My guess as to why condit didn’t stand “toe to toe” is because he doesn’t believe that’s what fighting is.
I would say this. Had condit just stood still and traded for 25 minutes, and done 10x the damage that Diaz did, but only threw half as many punches as nick. He would have lost a decision. Nick is a volume punching guy. He’s going to throw more than just about everyone. It’s hard to be a judge and even know what lands, or is effective when a guy throws a ton of flurries. Even if Carlos stood and slipped punches it can be hard to judge.
      -
I don’t really follow the logic to begin with though. Is Chael not fighting Anderson because he avoided standing “toe to toe?”
How about couture when he fought toney?
Or every fight Gracie had in the early days. Are those guys not fighting?
      -
The only time I was really impressed with Nick was the Daley fight. That actually had me buy in and made me think he might have stepped up. The first round with bj made me realize that Nicks actual skills weren’t where I thought they might be. Nick dodged a major bullet with bj dumping before the first round was even over.
      -
The UFC brass can put guys wherever they like. They can believe in who they like. The sports world is trying to sell Eli manning as being an elite QB. However I watched him have 6 or more attempts to get into field goal position in the 4th qtr and overtime against the 49ers, and he couldn’t get across midfield.
I know this isn’t football talk, but it’s just an example. I just don’t always agree with the experts. I understand if you take their word for it over mine. I just call it like I see it.
I’m not biased. I don’t really think anyone in that division is all that great. Because of that. Even Nick Diaz has a shot to do something.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001794712361 brandonwheaton

Chael put the hurt on Silva. That’s why he’s fighting again.

If Condit stood in there and threw, he woulda had a chance of finishing Nick.

****, even Nick finishes people with those sissy slaps.

      • Death Wish 9

Mike, if Condit didn’t believe in fighting “toe to toe” against an opponent, why has he fought like that his entire career before this fight? The Carlos I’ve seen has never sprinted from an opponent the way he did against Diaz. If Carlos would have fought the way he did on Saturday before, he never would have been given an interim championship fight against Diaz. It would have gone to somebody like Jake Ellenberger. Carlos was given the title shot because of his last three epic KOs. That’s the Carlos everyone wanted to see in that cage. We wanted to see 100% Condit against a 100% Nick Diaz, not a Condit going at 50% trying to edge a win on points. Everyone talks smack about Diaz’ punching power, but Carlos was afraid to go toe to toe against a supposedly weak puncher. It makes you look bad as a fighter. It didn’t look like fight strategy, it looked like he was afraid to engage Diaz. Compare any punch Condit threw against Diaz to the ones he threw against Ellenberger or Dan Hardy. They don’t even match up in terms of power. Carlos wasn’t even trying to stop Nick in the fight. He was waiting for the bell to ring. He robbed himself the glory of that win and also the fans of the supposedly epic matchup he’d been promising for weeks… The only reason we’ll remember the first fight is because of the controversy because Carlos DID NOT beat Nick.

        • mark248am

I think it’s unfair to say condit “ran” or “sprinted from” Diaz. It’s a fight, the aim is to punch the other guy more then he can punch you back.

He knows Diaz is stronger on the fence and so Condit made sure he avoided it by keeping things away from the fence and going back into the middle. That’s not running that’s called thinking.

If he had spent the fight avoiding take downs would you have called him a wuss for not wanting to take it to the ground? Obviously not.

          • Death Wish 9

Avoiding takedowns isn’t the same as avoiding a standup battle, which is what Condit was saying this fight was going to be for weeks. Carlos jogged away… if he was more skilled, he could sidestep Diaz and throw bombs without having to run across the entire cage. He did this round after round. Look at a fighter like Mayweather who is the king of the stick and move. He doesn’t run across the ring. He deflects and makes fighters miss just by moving his upper body and head and a couple of foot steps. That’s how you stick and move on a fighter while also throwing counter punches with power. The more you run, the less power you’ll have in your shots. This is why the fight metric numbers people are throwing around like it’s gospel don’t hold any weight. The majority of Condit’s leg kicks didn’t even stun or stop Diaz at all. If Carlos was really throwing all that he had behind them, it makes him look worse as a fighter imo. Cyborg did a better job at stopping Nick with leg kicks in less rounds.

Offensively, Carlos didn’t commit to his strikes. He was fighting defensively the entire time, and you have to count that against him. Especially when you consider how little he damaged Nick. Nick looked WORSE after he fought BJ. C’mon…

If Carlos was so ahead of Nick, why didn’t Nick ever retreat like Condit did if he landed so many more significant shots? The truth is that Condit was never planning to put Nick away like he said he was going to. He’s never been a point fighter before in his life, so why bother doing it now? It makes you look scared because it’s against the very nature that got you the title shot in the first place. Carlos outlander Nick with strikes he never committed to and he robbed his fans of what could have been an epic fight. Before this fight, I was ready for Diaz to lose by KO to Condit. I thought they were both great fighters. But the fact that Condit wanted to skate by on points showed me he was afraid to be aggressive against Nick.

And thanks Travis. I appreciate the kudos. I’ve been watching this sport since I was a young kid when the first UFC was aired. I’ve been a fan ever since. I’ve had nothing but respect for Condit before this fight, but he needs to show us the Natural Born Killer if he wants to keep it.

If its not clear who I am stating “best comment on this forum” its to Death wish 9.
I will try to respect everyones opinion on here, until I read something ridiculous like condit won all 5 rounds. I want what your smoking.

      • shaman

It’s not just an issue of standing toe to toe, but finishing the fight

We only have decisions as a default. The purpose of fighting is to ‘beat’ your opponent, either by KO or submission, not exploit some fine print with the judges

If this goes any further we’re going to have guys win fights by pressing opponents against the cage and repping out footstomps, or thigh punches from the guard

    • gnodeb

If Diaz is that good he would commit to his punches. He won’t throw 200 jabs per fight. He usually win fights by irritating his opponents. This time he was out scored and irritated in the process. Get over it…
I’m really sad to see how many people have a mad respect for trash talking. How is that possible? You act as an idiot and hura… GSP is afraid of you. Now that is a fight we all have to see…
And what can Dana do? UFC has to become circus to keep growing like this.

      • mark248am

        +1

      • Death Wish 9

Apparently those punches were strong enough to make Condit back up the entire fight. By the way, why didn’t Condit commit to his punches? His punches never stunned Nick. His best shot was a head kick.

Look at Nick’s wins in the past few years. He doesn’t win by “irritating” his opponents. He beats them, just like Carlos did in his fights before Saturday’s matchup. Why did Carlos suddenly change what made him the fighter that he is?

This should have been a war, not a Taekwondo tournament match.

    • bigdog333187

Standing toe to toe is a very small part of fighting. This isn’t “who is the best toe to toe” it’s who is the best. Maybe you should watch a toughman competition or an old Kimbo backyard brawl on youtube. MMA may not be for you

  • D-rail

Let’s face it, Dana smells money w/this rematch disguised as “Giving the fans what they want”. If Condit was given that title shot, then they should of left his interim running shoes, I meant interim belt alone. Besides, I was kind of looking forward to Diaz possibly mixing it up w/the other top contenders.

    • mark248am

I want to see Diaz vs GSP and I was disappointed he didn’t win against Condit but what’s happening to Condit is unfair. The guy won fair and square and Diaz is just a sore loser.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=551597168 fredericfan

This is a joke. Basically you just told Condit that his 1st win meant nothing. To be the belt holder he has to beat Diaz twice in a row. Meanwhile all Diaz has to do is win the 2nd time & it’s like the 1st fight never happened. Terrible decision on Dana’s part. Whatever happened to when you lose, you have to work your way back up. The Diaz vs. Koshcheck fight made much more sense. Now, it’s Diaz complaining again & White giving into the big mouth…yet again.

    • mark248am

yeah it’s unfair to Condit and it’s not the first time Dana has screwed him over like this.

  • maddawgmar

Diaz lost that fight hands down. Now because he is a cry baby he gets a second chance. If I were Condit I would do the exact same thing jus to cheese everyone off, cuz you know Diaz isn’t gonna change his game plan. If he was he would have in the fight, like instead of coming after him take the center of the octagon and tag Condit when he came close enough to engage.

But Diaz gets a second fight for not being smart enough to switch his plan. And if Diaz wins does Condit get an immediate rubber match?

  • Ememay

All these arguments why Condit shouldn’t fight Diaz, but no alternatives. Besides GSP, who’s still injured, is there a more intriguing fight? I don’t think so. Noone wants to see Condit v. Hendricks (not yet anyway). I like this because it makes sense and will put butts in seats. It’ll prove once and for all who the better fighter is.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=551597168 fredericfan

I would rather see Diaz vs. Koshcheck & Condit vs. the winner of the Ellenberger/Diego Sanchez fight. At least that person will deserve to have the next fight as they won their previous match. What did Diaz do to deserve a rematch ? Acted like an idiot, pouted like a little kid, ditched the press conference as usual. If this is true, this is a terrible idea by the UFC. The notion that Dana used to espouse that you had to earn your way to get a title shot becomes a joke by the hand of none other than Dana White.

    • maddawgmar

Finally, someone who has read my thoughts. Condit won that fight and it wasn’t close. I think the winner of Ellenberger/Sanchez deserves the fight with Condit, then that winner gets GSP. I agree that Diaz/Kos should fight, also Hendricks fight the winner of Shields/Akiyama. The winner of Diaz/Kos v Hendricks/Shields or Akiyama gets whoever has title after GSP fight. Barring any long injury suspensions these coul line up perfectly. That would fill the year and have a clear Champ at the end. (Even though GSP is still the Champ)

The only hiccups would be, Shields-Diaz wont fight each other, and GSP-Kos not an endearing match, after the first two.

Won’t happen but we can dream.

  • Saaty

Diaz is an idiot! Didn’t he say….”I would have finished him if I knew it wasnt winning the fight”. To me that isn’t some one who deserves a 2nd chance.

    • RonnieV

Actually no he didn’t say that.

  • Anthony

So Diaz pouts, cries, and then threatens to quit and Dana rewards this behavior by giving him a do over? Reminds me of the half retarded spoiled kid on the playground who threatens ” if you dont give me my fumble back, and let me score, im taking my ball and going home”

    • RubeKegal

hahahaha couldn’t agree more. Dana is a money hungry bitch and Diaz is a punk.

  • philyon

just a nother way for them t f Condit and try to make more money u all should no Dana White wanted Diaz to win the fight so it did not work how he wanted it to so hell we will make them fight a 2 time Dana White just lol at all u ppl that keep wach he keeps maken the money and the fighter dont lol

  • mark248am

Out of curiosity, if Diaz had won the fight do you guys think there would be a rematch? I don’t think there would have been because Dana wants Diaz vs GSP.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001066818422 juliushodges

It’s not that Nick was over rated, people are pissed cause Condit was over rated.

Condit ran his mouth about “blah blah I finish people blah blah” and then didn’t show up to fight.

Nick said he’d come to fight, and he did.

There’s a reason Dana tells guys like Condit & Fitch to get lost. He demonstrated why on saturday.

I totally agree with this right here… Condit cant say he’s a warrior he’s a finisher and all that bs and literally turn his back and run…. If you really love MMA you were cheated out a the main even fight… This wasnt no ******* prelim or fight night this was the main event… The reason people respect Nick Diaz is because win or lose your going to know you were in a fight. I dont think he would ever run just to try and win a belt not his style. I have lost all rescpet for Condit and I really think your seeing the Greg Jackson affect come to play he makes fighters soft. You take away Jon Jones who is just a freak they dont finish in that camp. I understand stragety but to fight so conservatie just to win is not what I as a fan want from a FIGHTER!!!!!

  • stiff jab

CC should, and will, execute the same game plan. So, you are going to see the same fight, same razor-thin decision (CC won btw). Just seems like the UFC is rematching to get the opponent they want against GSP. I hope CC is getting paid.

  • pooby

They were going to give Diaz the shot over Condit last time just because that’s what GSP wanted. I have a feeling this rematch has a lot to do with GSP again.

If Diaz wins the rematch, does Condit get a rubber match? Or does it end there, because Diaz winning is what was “supposed” to happen?

  • emmettbarnacle

I think condit won the first fight but thank god a champion shouldn’t win like that yes it’s the most important fight of your career but prove your a better fighter not more elusive

    • emmettbarnacle

At least gsp does something even if it is take you down and smother you I’d still rather see that then condit running away.

  • jonnypatrick

All this talk about Condit running is obsured. He won the fight fair & square, if it was a split-decision I could see all the complaints. I thought it was a great fight and Condit had a great game plan for a guy like Nick Diaz. What do think GSP would do if he fought Nick? He would take him down and try to ground & pound him. It’s not running, he avoided damage and reset. Look at the fight between Nate & Donald Cerrone had Cerrone not bought into the Diaz brothers taunting & stuck to his camps game plan he would have won that fight. Condit deserved the win & the Interim belt, Diaz is a sore loser.

  • RubeKegal

I hope Condit wins and it’s more boring. Dana is going to run the UFC downhill just like boxing went downhill. Horrible decision Dana.

    • bigdog333187

      I agree

      • RonnieV

You two should get a room

  • RubeKegal

This is why I can proudly say I NEVER purchased a UFC event, I go to a pub and watch it for free. I will never spend a dime to the benefit of Dana’s pocket. This is a godawful decision.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1156071623 markmason

Why should this classless fool get another shot? Especially since he was such a bi*** after the loss crying a river about wanting to retire because the didn’t get his way. Here is a thought, Carlos (who has been so disrespected by the UFC in this whole Diaz / GSP fiasco its ridiculous) vs. one of the other guys deserving a shot like Fitch, Hendricks, Ellenberger or even Koscheck? It’s not like there is a lack of good fights at 170.

  • Steven UK

    Condit gets screwed again.

    • RubeKegal

      you said it man

  • jonnypatrick

I agree with you Mark, Diaz doesn’t deserve a rematch. The fact that Diaz said if he would’ve finished him if he thought he was down on the cards is total BS. If he could’ve finshed the fight he would have. Condit is a true professional the way he has handled all of the Diaz/GSP crap going into the fight. Diaz can retire and go back to being a thug on the streets od Stockton!

  • 1mmafrk

Let’s hope Condit does not run like a coward this time.

  • jonnypatrick

I was actually starting to like Nick after the Primetime show. I even like his younger brother but after the way he acted after the Condit fight is a joke. Be a man a accept defeat, no one likes to lose but it happens. It should have humbled him but his true colors came out once again.

  • jonnypatrick

Coward, you wouldn’t even have the courage to get in the octagon. If he fought GSP and he took Diaz to the mat for 25 minutes and dominated the fight would he be a coward??? I didn’t think so, this isn’t a street fight.

  • kwite11

Of course it’s about money it’s always gonna be about money but if condit won the fight decisively he wouldn’t be in this perdicament in the first place. He will never sell more paper view buys over nick Diaz. Besides the trash talking Nick Diaz does. Hes a gifted athlete and a good fighter not the best but he’s a good fighter. Tito, Evans, koscheck and the infamous sonnen are the best at talking trash, But those names put asses on the seats and make the ufc a lot of money. And at the end of the day no matter if the fans Like it or not fans still pay to watch these guys fight…… Whos gonna make more money a scrapper that goes in there and bangs it out or a more tactical fighter that fights to win decisions? Isn’t that why the sport of boxing dead now because you have one boxer that shows up to fight and the other boxer completely does the opposite knowing that he has fought wars before. What condit did was not tactical he trained himself to edge out a decision and now he’s suffering the consequences with a rematch with Diaz, and is not able to enjoy his belt cuz he didn’t put himself in harms way and fight like real champions do!!!!!

  • Mma fanatic

Sorry Carlos!! This is not Fair or Right! That was not even a close fight to me! Carlos Absolutly won! IMO! Diaz is the biggest B**ch in MMA! I will NOT pay a dollar to see any Nick Diaz fight! Carlos please Knock this big mouth the F*ck out!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001475270945 dwightjones

Regardless of how Condit won the fight…. He won the fight. Has any reputable MMA source said they think Diaz actually won? Not that I have seen. So these two have to keep fighting until Dana gets the result he wants? Pretty transparent. Look at Sonnen/Bisping. Basically EVERYONE including Sonnen had that fight two rounds to one Bisping (except the judges of course). Does Bisping get a rematch? Hell no! No one really wants to see Bisping/Silva in a soccer stadium in Brazil. Everyone wants to see Sonnen/Silva 2. Do you think we would have had a rematch if Bisping won? If not, somehow Sonnen would probably gotten the shot anyhow. I bet Dana was sweating his ass off watching that fight, and was backflipping at the decision. Just because you may be a loyal Diaz fan, does not automatically give him the fight.

    • TKD

          • RubeKegal

you’re right, TJ Dillashaw is more star power than jon jones, sorry

        • RonnieV

Dwightjones asked for reputable names who thought Diaz won. I named many, I’m sure there are just as many that thought Condit won, which is why it’s a controverisal win. Half the people I watched the fight with thought Condit, the key word is “HALF”. Btw, outside of Jake Shields, I didn’t list any Cesar Gracie fighters, a good portion of the guys on your list are Team Jackson or were Team Jackson.

          • RubeKegal

Yeah ok Ronnie, you named Joe Rogan and then bitched about the mmaweekly radio show host being biased. Just stop being a complete *sshole, I know it’s hard for you, but there needs to be some type of rationale and youve shown NONE

          • RonnieV

Rube, you are a retarded little man. Listing people who said they scored the fight in favor of one fighter over another is not being biased. You can keep digging inbred, but when it’s all said and done, we’ll get the rematch, and you’ll still cry like a little girl.

          • RubeKegal

That’s right baby!! I present facts and when you know you lose you call people retarded. You’re a punk bitch that lives at home with mommy

u forgot roy nelson dana white lorenzo fertitta josh neer david charette even jon jones said in a interveiw that he thought nick edged him by 1 round and thats condits teammate

        • RubeKegal

Jon Jones said he had Condit winning.

          • MikeMc1983

Dana white had condit winning as well so that list might be a condit list. I thought Dana said Lorenzo had condit as well.
Dana said about 20 times that he gave Diaz the 1st 2 rds and the last 3 to condit.
Dana also seemed surprised in the post fight press conference that one of the reporters was even questioning the decision.

  • Maine2Alaska

You ALL have to remember.. What have Nick and his brother Nate always done in their fights? Throw little constant baby punches with nothing on them. Trying to overwhelm their opponents with little fly swatter punches Using their reach.. WELL look what happened when Nate finally fought Condit.. (someone with longer reach) instead of punches, he threw tons of kicks. Some to Nicks face. Alot to his legs. To me Nate just had a taste of his own annoying medicine, only with kicks. Condit is a stud. I would like to see them fight again, but it’s true, Dana is kissing Nates ass. It should be Koschek vs Diaz

    • MikeMc1983

I missed the Nate Diaz vs. condit fight. (I understand saying the wrong name once, but over and over was kind of funny.)
      -
I defend Nate. Reguardless of what the commentators have said. Nate only really has done that style in his last fight. Something I hope he doesn’t repeat. Before that nate actually tries to punch people. (when I say “punch” I mean something harder than I hit my 10yr old cousin with when we’re play fighting)
Nates not a real strong guy but he at least tries. But hell. At 155lbs there are a bunch of kids in jr high that couldn’t make that weight, so who knows what’s right.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=501891998 josehernandez

As I predicted!!! UFC is so predictable!!!

  • Towers66

Geez, Condit fans sure are crying up a storm. Quit whining you little girls. Natural Born Runner didn’t win that fight in enough people’s eyes. Now he must face Diaz again or run from him again. Hahahaha! Diaz won 1/2/5 anyways and he’ll win this next fight. All that name calling from the Runners fans and now you all eat your own medicine. Hahaha!!! Betting lines are gonna have Carlos as an underdog even after his BIG run errr I mean win.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002574847122 davidcharette

evertime cecil peoples is a judge for the ufc the wrong guys win how can you have a boxing judge judge a mma fight he knows nothing about mma

  • http://www.bloodyfists.net/forums/index.php SHORT_BUS

Sure is a lot of crying in here. Need to throw up a couple banner ads from Kleenex or Tampax.

  • Towers66

Condit fans need the Tampax first. Then the Kleenex. Keep crying girls, it’s really hilarious.

  • jonnypatrick

It’s obviuos that you (short_bus) and towers66 rode the short bus to school! I am a MMA fan not a Condit fan. I believe Nick Diaz and his fans are the ones who are crying we are just stating facts. Diaz lost, be a MAN and deal with it. Carlos won the fight and shouldn’t have to fight this thug again, Silve vs. Sonnen 2 is happening because Chael whooped Silvas A$$ for 4 rounds and deserves a rematch. Why didn’t Diaz get in the clinch and take Condit down early on in the fight? Because he wasn’t smart enough to have plan B. He should have tried to win the fight instead of trash talk & taunt Condit. Face the facts guys Diaz lost & the ONLY reason he gets the rematch is because Dana wants the Diaz/GSP fight.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001475270945 dwightjones

Just to be clear, I am not a huge fan or hater of either of these fighters. I am fan of MMA. If this had been a number one contender match instead of for UFC gold, possibly Condit would have fought a different fight. Maybe the allure of the belt made him play it safer than he normally would have. I love to see a slug fest as much as the next guy, but enjoy a tactical fight as well. Still have mad respect for Dana White and what he has done for this sport. Just don’t want to see this sport we all are so obviously passionate about turn into a joke. I would love to see Daiz/GSP, but that’s not how it worked out. Very curious to see what happens if Condit wins the second fight. I honestly thought Diaz should have gotten the title fight after the BJ win.

  • emmettbarnacle

I agree you condit fans need a tampon. I like diaz but think condit won but still imidate rematches unless its a draw are never fair I don’t think chael even deserved to get a rematch with Anderson after that bisping win it’s the same thing with bj and Frankie who the **** cares its going to be a much better fight second time around and if you really like mma then ******* enjoy it and quit your bitching its a business

  • jonnypatrick

Frank Mir was stripped of his belt after 14 months off, GSP will be out 18 months. Dana White should strip GSP of his belt if he wants the Diaz/GSP fight. Condit doesn’t deserve this BS he won, deal with it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1381165166 maritzalopez colon

Thank you Mr White!! Diaz will show hands down he won that 1st fight !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and mr white cant let gsp belt taken away… hes UFC’s bread and butter

  • RonnieV

STOP THE PRESS!! Cesar Gracie just posted on Twitter that the rematch is now being reconsidered.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000741223979 travisbecker

IMHO, If Diaz was the only one crying (which he clearly did at the end of the fight) Dana would not have scheduled the rematch. I understood Diaz’ frustration, but that was pretty bad way of showing it.

This rematch is about Dana listening to fans and of course more importantly $$$$ due to the controversy. a very few guys have stated very well on here that Condit was chosen for this title shot due to him ending his previous fights in BEAST MODE. Thats what fans want to see, it sells and brings in revenue. Dana knows people arent going to get hyped up to pay for a guy who wont stand and fight and relys on countering and running. I know I know, “His strategy blah blah”.. Scoring points blah blah… We understand, but the truth is it doesnt put people butts in seats to watch that crap. The UFC is a business, just like the NFL. This rematch is for Condit to tell all his new HATERS to shut up. He needs to come out and have a better showing if he wants to get a title shot. I love watching Diaz fight, he is a TRUE FIGHTER, maybe he isnt the best, but I will alawys pay to watch his fights because I enjoy watching guys who are fearless regardless of what competition is in front of them. That sells, im not going to pony up money to watch a point scoring match. Just like Machida, I respect his strategy, just like Condits in his last fight. But I will NEVER pay to wathc another Machida fight. Im glad Dana is doing this, regardless of his real intentions. Too much controversy to avoid it.

  • moonshine

I ve watched the fight a couple of times now, and still cant believe how the judges didnt score rounds 1,2 and 5 for Diaz. I can understand why hes pissed and why there should be a rematch. I would like to see a clear judging format b/c by following this fights judging criteria Bisping should hav beat chael and Pierce should hav beat Kos! I personally find Condit to be a stand up human being but clearly got out classed in 3 outta the 5 rounds…REMATCH!

    • RonnieV

Condit is a very stand-up guy, and I’m a fan. According to Dana White, he wanted a rematch. Then again, that’s the only fight for Condit that makes sense right now monetarily.

Well I hope which ever one wins the rematch, he does it in a spectactular fashion. That way. no one can bitch about it!!

  • KBEsq

If there is a rematch, it’s ultimately Condit’s decision. That’s what White said from the beginning. People should give Condit credit for this. I want to see the rematch. Not because I think Diaz got robbed. It’s crazy to me that anyone thought Diaz won that fight. I want to see the rematch because the fight was not a fight Condit should be proud of.

As an aside, why are people so hungry for the Diaz/GSP match? It must be 100% because of the drama and not because the fight will be competitive. I think GSP beats both Condit and Diaz either way because superior wrestling beats both Condit and Diaz. However, I really believe Condit is a more competitive fight because Condit’s ability to get up once taken down is better than Diaz. Diaz will just get taken down and beat up. Condit will probably get taken down and beat up too, but Condit will at least get up a few times.

      Well said.

The Natural Born Runner seemed scared! I was never a Nick Diaz fan but I Am Now! He Kept his word and spoke the truth! It was annoying for ME to watch The Natural Born Runner run away swiftly. His camp literally changed him. They must not have liked the Natural Born Killer. Big props to Nick Diaz! I hated the guy back then but I am a fan now! He took it to Carlos and Carlos ran. period!

  • jonnypatrick

Vudo if Condit was running how did he score more significant strikes than Diaz? If that fight made you a Diaz fan you shouldn’t watch the sport anymore, he is a joke. Is it smart for anyone to stand and bang with Anderson Silva? The answer is no you do what it takes to get the win, if you want to watch a street fight google Kimbo Slice. Mark my words, if they fight again Condit will be victorious and then what will all you Diaz nut huggers say?

  • http://www.facebook.com/mkiniorski matthewkiniorski

If Condit didn’t want to chance a re-match he should have come up with a better game plan than “move” away at every chance. It is on both of them for letting it go to the cards. Condit didn’t try to win the fight, he tried to outpoint Diaz. I still have no clue how that happened since I’ve never seen someone win a fight after running away so much. You can call it moving but when he got near the cage he literally ran away. If he dominated every round the way he says he did it should be an easy fight for him. I’m sure Diaz won’t let that garbage get called as a win again though.

  • Bob

There is no point in an interm belt if Condit sits for 10 months instead of GSP sitting for 13 months!

“Not least of which was an apparent sweetening of the pot for Condit to put his newly earned interim UFC welterweight title back on the block against Diaz.”
Its all about the money for the fighters and looks like the UFC is giving Condit a big pay day to take the fight. So it makes sense for Condit to take it and get a big pay day and then possibly win again and get a shot at another big pay day against GSP. It also gives Condit a chance to win back some fans.

I can hear the chants now… “RUN CALOS RUN!”

Hope he comes to fight this time.

    • RonnieV

Actually, once GSP fights again, it will be around 20 months since his last fight against Shields.

  • RubeKegal

Ronnie how do you explain your flawed striking numbers? Fight Metric proved you WRONG!! 159-117 for Condit in total strikes yet you claim Diaz outlanded Condit. Whats your response?

    • RonnieV

Check Compustrike dummy! When I saw the difference, I went through the fight in slow mo myself.

      • RubeKegal

Slow mo myself says the Diaz fan LOL!! And a punch by Diaz err, I mean 8 punches by Diaz.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000010352249 donvankampen

Why do we need to see this again ??? Diaz couldn’t force his game plan, Condit had great defense set for it, so why ???

  • Bob

Opps- your right 20 months- not 13!
My point is that the purpose of the interm belt is to keep the division moving. So for an interm champ to sit makes no sense.

  • jonnypatrick

It’s about time! RubeKegal I couldn’t agree with you more. Condit also landed 151 significant strikes and Diaz landed 105. Diaz asked Condit on the Primetime show how he planned on throwing kicks & elbows while he was going backwards! I think Condit answered Nick’s question Saturday night and yet these so called MMA fans want to say Diaz was robbed. He could’ve taken the fight to the mat or stayed in the clinch.

  • julianmoran

Condit lost a lot of fans in that fight, the only ones he kept are the Nick Diaz haters.

Condit did not only run away the whole fight, he also lost 3 out of 5 rounds!

Rewatch round 1 and 2, and tell me that Condit was not getting blasted effectivly. Condit’s catchy striking however mostly just missed target.

  • Towers66

The reason that this fight is happening is not only because Condits poor performance and Nicks warrior style but also the amount of comments on this post shows people want to see it. Natural Born Runner better tuck his gina in and fight if he wants to have any fans left. He’s just going to have to take his beatin just like every other Diaz opponent does. Natural Born Runner gonna get chased down, smacked up and put to sleep.

    • RonnieV

Good point, I almost posted something similar. 122 posts in one morning. MMAWEEKLY comment boards set a record this week. I bet most of the people complaining baout this rematch, will buy the fight.

  • jonnypatrick

I don’t know what fight you watched! Maybe it should be julian “MORON” instead of moran!

    • RonnieV

      There’s an intelligent post.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000010352249 donvankampen

    >> The reason that this fight is happening is not only because Condits poor performance and Nicks warrior style << Well by the markings on Diaz, I wouldn't call that poor..LOL !! If Diaz had a " warrior " style, he should have taken the fight to the ground. His game plan failed as his coaches failed him. Condit excuted his game plan dan near perfect. Why should he satnd in one place and get out boxed?? Diaz should have finished it on the ground, when he saw how Condit was playing defense. Dont see alot of Machida remaches when he wins.

  • ryanstewart

I couldn’t agree with anyone person more than Enfo. You nailed it. Diaz doesn’t deserve a immidiate rematch. He needs to get back in line and win at least one more fight before getting another shot at the gold.Ellenberger Hendricks is a great match to see possible #1 contender,Koscheck Diaz not so sure. But reguardless good idea..

  • http://www.facebook.com/jnbodomusic jeanbodo

Condit is clearly the better man, the fact that he is game to have a rematch shows without a doubt that he believes in his abilities and that in no way is scared of that bully Diaz.

Condit put on a proper clinic in the art of MMA and beat Diaz by a clear margin with a great game plan, slipping out when necesarry and staying in the pocket long enough to win by points and thats what the game is all about, its not bullying in the school yard or club brawling but a sport of intelligence, courage and determination.

BTW courage is not not being afraid. Courage is when even if being afraid you are still staying in the moment and kicking ass!!

I for one am happy for Condit and I believe he has upped the level of MMA with his performance by weeding out the likes of Diaz and anyone who thinks that bullying is a mindset that should be tolerated even in the MMA.

    Peace-out!

even joe rogan , dana white and lorenzo fertitta all said when they went home and watched the fight on tv they had a diffrent outcome with diaz winning rounds 1-2-5 real champs dont run and real champs will fight anyone at anytime condit said this was gonna be a dog fight it looked like a dog cat fight how can you call yourself the natural born killer then run your ass off for 5 rounds condit is scared of diaz thats ok tho diaz isnt gonna let you run this time bro so better come up with another gameplan this time he’ll be jumping over the octogon when diaz starts cornering him condit fake ass paper champ

    • RubeKegal

Dana “I had Condit winning….wait I can make more money if they rematch? Yeah er, I mean Diaz def won”

  • kwite11

All you condit fans look up UFC 123 press conference and listen to what Dana white says!!!!!!!! “Imagine these fighters fought like chickens and ran away in the cage they would never be champions” …… That’s coming out of the horses mouth!!!!!!!

  • jonnypatrick

kwite11 & david charette you must be smoking the same good **** that Joe Rogan does!! Diaz lost and it doesn’t sound like Diaz is taking the fight now anyways according to Cesar Gracie. Did I mention that Carlos agreed to fight Diaz again, doesn’t sound like he is to scared.

  • moonshine

The Only person that loses this one is Condit, unless u r part of Condits camp why the **** do u care if theres a rematch…we win! One of the coolest fights to ever be put together, lets do this **** again! So far Diaz 1-0, can condit even the odds?…watch the fight again diaz round 1 2 and 5, Condit 3 and 4…Condit really mixed it up a lot better but still lost 3 rounds. Love both these guys cant wait to seee the rematch..MAKE IT HAPPEN!

  • jonnypatrick

I was also wondering if you looked at Nick’s face compared to Condits after the fight. Diaz took way more damage than Condit.

  • mod777

Why not Koscheck versus Diaz that would be fun!!

  • moonshine

Diazs face always looks like shit

  • pooby

Dana was a dumbass to say this fight would happen before ol’ unreliable signed up.

  • nuckybroadway

@williampucci first of all Nick left the ufc on a 2 fight win streak to fight gomi in pride and second if u knew what u were talking about then u would know Diaz fought bj Penn his first fight back from strikeforce and he beat Penn down so IMO ur comment and oppinion are invalid…. smh

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=662425862 connermica

Wow, well on one hand I’m glad that Condit decided to scilence the critics and prove that he isn’t afraid of Diaz, but on the other hand I’m not that pumped to see the rematch I thought Condit won the fight handily, and that the people saying he was scared or running sure look at the numbers and learn something about effect use of strategy. But if it’s gona happen it’s gona happen and I’ll just sit back and enjoy the fight again.

  • RubeKegal

    Condit 50-45
