The UFC returns to Porto Alegre on Sunday for UFC Fight Night 61: Bigfoot vs. Mir at the Gigantinho Gymnasium, where a heavyweight showdown between Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Frank Mir takes center stage.

UFN_61_pre_sale-750The Silva vs. Mir bout replaces the original headlining bout between Glover Teixeira and Rashad Evans, after both of them withdrew due to injury.

Silva and Mir are each trying to rekindle careers that have gone dormant.

Silva has lost two of his last three bouts, which sandwiched a draw with Mark Hunt. The fight with Hunt was later changed to a no contest after Silva drug test results indicated an elevated level of testosterone-to-epitestosterone, which is indicative of exogenous testosterone use.

Mir has simple been on a four-fight skid, losing bouts to Junior dos Santos, Daniel Cormier, Josh Barnett, and Alistair Overeem.

Being heavyweights, neither man had a lot of trouble making weight, but that didn’t hold true for one of the undercard fights.

A FOX Sports 1 preliminary bout between TJ Waldburger and Wendell Oliveira was cancelled in the hours prior to weigh-ins. Waldburger fainted in the sauna while cutting weight.
