The UFC may be on hiatus this weekend, but the promotion’s longtime play-by-play commentator Mike Goldberg is not.

Goldberg will be handling play-by-play duties for the NFL on FOX on Sunday for the Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings game, which will air at 1 p.m. ET on FOX. The game is one of four that will air on FOX at that time, so it will only be available in the Detroit, Minneapolis, and Louisville markets, but Goldberg will be making the call alongside FOX regulars Brendon Ayanbadejo and Peter Schrager.

He’ll also be calling another game on FOX on Oct. 19 – Minnesota Vikings vs. Buffalo Bills – with the same crew. This game will also probably only be available to certain regions.

Stepping outside of his UFC duties is nothing new to Goldberg, who has had a lengthy broadcast career in other sports. He has worked college football games on Fox Sports Net; is the former play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota Wild, and ESPN 2 hockey; and has worked with the Vancouver Canucks, the Phoenix Coyotes, and announces the annual Lingerie Bowl.

But fear not, despite past attempts by the WWE to sway Goldie away from the UFC, he’s not going anywhere. He’ll be back at the UFC broadcast table alongside Joe Rogan soon enough.

Too bad WWE couldn’t “sway” Joe Rogan. I never enjoyed listening to him scream about people getting rocked and talking non-stop during fights. Eh, I guess it is what it is.

I love Goldie. He’s perfect. Him and Rogan are perfect. His voice is perfect. He’s the old favorite in the UFC. He actually complements Joe perfectly. Joe gets a little inflated sometimes. He’s a tradition. Don’t go anywhere Goldberg! You guys are the dynamic duo. The originals.

Apparently Goldberg wasn’t too busy to post comments about himself on mmaweekly.com

And apparently Darin wasn’t too busy to troll. . .

Goldberg would suit the WWE, he doesn’t really know what hes talking about when it comes to MMA, he probably could talk some good shit over in the wwe

Oh my god, it was so bad! Detroit sports radio talked about him all day and how bad he was. He called the players the wrong names and seemed lost the game. Best of luck to him, but please keep him away from the Lions games from now on!
