Anthony Johnson made quick work of Charlie Brenneman in their UFC on Versus 6 bout.
Brenneman did what he could to get the best of Johnson, but “Rumble” landed a headkick that finished the fight with over two minutes to go in the opening round.
Johnson had the advantage on the feet from the get go. Brenneman tried hard to get the fight to the ground, but it didn’t get any easier once it got there. Johnson stayed in top position and hammered down on the Pennsylvania wrestler. When the two came back to the feet, Johnson rocked his opponent with a punch and Brenneman was obviously stunned. A short while later, Johnson landed a left headlock that dropped Brenneman and the referee put a stop to the fight.
The finish came at 2:49 of the opening round.
I’m very happy,” Johnson said to Joe Rogan after the win. “Everybody was talking crap about my last performance with Dan Hardy, so I figured I’d make a statement.”
Johnson gets his second win in a row, while Brenneman loses his first in three fights.
