The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Saturday made its first trek to the United States capital city of Washington, D.C. It proved to be a good choice for the promotion, pulling in solid gate and attendance numbers for UFC on Versus 6 at the Verizon Center.
The event marked an announced attendance of 9,380 for gate receipts of $706,775. The gate is actually quite high for a Versus event, which typically pulls in numbers hovering around the $500,000 range.
UFC on Versus 6 was the promotion’s final event of its current television deal with the Versus network. The UFC recently struck a new seven-year deal with Fox Sports. The promotion will move all of its non-pay-per-view offerings to Fox in 2012.
