The UFC made it’s first trip Louisville, KY. for UFC On Versus 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann at the KFC Yum! Center and handed out a total of $200,000 in bonuses to its most deserving fighters.

Several competitors performed well on the evening’s card, but it was Diego Sanchez, Martin Kampmann, Brian Bowles and Shane Roller who stood out the most, as they collected the night’s bonuses.

Sanchez and Kampmann fought a three-round war, and although both fighters thought they won the bout, it was Sanchez who convinced the judges he won the fight. Both fighters had their faces covered in cuts and blood, and for their efforts, each of them took home an additional $60,000 as winners of “Fight of the Night.”

Shane Roller looked as though he was being out struck on the feet in his fight with Thiago Tavares, but a straight right hand changed the momentum as quickly as one can turn it. Roller scored the “Knockout of the Night,” pocketing an extra $40,000 for knocking his opponent’s senses for a loop.

Brian Bowles performed just as well he did in his first match-up with Damacio Page. As a matter of fact, he finished the fight the same exact way on Saturday night as he did the first time – by guillotine choke at 3:30 of the first round. The submission win earned Bowles a $40,000 bonus for “Submission of the Night.”

  • It was an easy pick for fight of the night. Sanchez’s face had to be the worst I’ve ever seen for someone who WON a fight.

  • My scorecard gives Kampman the slight edge and win.
