Both fighters made weight with no issue but once they were off the scale, Belfort didn’t engage by getting too close to Bisping, staying more than a few feet away once they were staring down at one another. Bisping did manage to start into a verbal tirade that drew Belfort’s ire, but matchmaker Joe Silva stepped in to calm down any potential fireworks.
The rest of the weigh-ins went out without too much of a hitch.
Lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov, faces Brazilian Thiago Tavares, knew he wouldn’t have the hometown crowd on his side, so he decided to get under their skin instead. The Russian wore a t-shirt saying “If Sambo Was Easy It Would Be Called Jiu-Jitsu” obviously taking a dig at the Brazilian martial art.
The only fighter that didn’t make weight was Facebook preliminary fighter C.J. Keith, who came in one pound over the weight limit and has one hour to cut the additional weight to make his fight official or possibly face a penalty.
