Dan Miller vs. Ricardo Funch
Round 1: Miller opens with a punch combination into a solid kick to the body. They start trading punches, but Miller is keeping his guard up and tight, landing some good straight shots at a higher pace than Funch. Funch moves in with a front kick that Miller blocks, but Funch clinches and presses him to the fence, driving knees to Miller’s thighs. Miller gets an underhook and fires back a couple knees of his own. Miller tosses Funch to the mat, but he pops back up, eating a punch from Miller as he does so. Miller flurries, landing a few good shots before Funch clinches and presses Miller into the cage again. The get separated with 30 seconds left in the round. Funch gets some good punches in before the horn. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Miller.
Round 2: Miller opens up with a flurry of punches, backing Funch up before he applies a standing guillotine. Miller drops for a takedown, but Funch defends, dropping some elbows down. Miller separates and they go into a flurry of punches, both fighters landing. Funch shoots, but Miller once again locks on the guillotine attempt. Miller drops for a takedown again, but Funch gets the double underhooks and defends well. Funch tries to go for a takedown again and Miller again goes for the guillotine, although this one is loose and Funch easily slips out. Miller wraps up one of Funches legs with his own, trying to set up a heel hook. Funch drives elbows down to the shins of Miller, who tries, but misses with the upkick. Funch drops some punches down from standing, but Miller finally finds a home for the upkick and stands up, Funch immediately pressing him to the fence. Miller goes back to the guillotine, but just can’t sink it in, Funch continuing to fight for a takedown that isn’t there. MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 for Miller.
Round 3: It’s another close fight going into the final round, Funch opening with a solid inside leg kick. Miller blitzes with a flurry of punches, but Funch defends well, taking little punishment. Funch comes in firing on Miller, but Miller drops him with a counter right hand. Miller follows him to the mat and unloads with a blitzkrief of punches, but Funch somehow fights through it and gets back to his feet. Miller rocks him again with another series of punches, Funch again breifly fallig to the mat off wobbly legs. He pops up and clinches Miller up to the fence, getting him to the mat, but Miller quickly gets back to his feet, although they remain clinched on the fence. Funch is trying desparately to trip Miller to the mat, but Miller goes back to the guillotine, locking it on and rolling to top mount, the guillotine still in place, causing Funch to tap out.
