Jake Hecht vs. Sean Pierson
Round 1: Hecht quickly secures a single leg takedown and gets the fight to the ground. He works to take the back of Pierson. Pierson sneaks out and gains top position inside Hecht’s guard. He postures up, stands and throws a big right hand. He passes Hecht’s guard and works in side control. He advances to the mount but Hecht escapes and stands. Pierson works for a guillotine choke. Hecht elevates him and slams him to the canvas. Pierson gets back to his feet. Hecht presses him against the cage and works punches to the body. Two minutes remain and Pierson secures an inside trip takedown. Pierson stands and dives back in with a right hand. Hecht scrambles and stands. Pierson lands a shot to the body before they separated. Round 2: Pierson moves forward. Hecht misses with a high kick and they clinch. Pierson lands knees to the body. Hecht reverses the position along the cage. They separate. Pierson lands an uppercut. They clinch and work for position. Hecht presses him against the cage but Pierson turns him. They exchange knees to the body and Pierson lands a right hand on the break. Hecht works for a takedown but Pierson fends it off. Pierson is winning the striking exchanges. Hecht having trouble finding his range. Pierson ties him up along the fence and lands knees to the body. He separates. Pierson lands a right hook as Hecht attempted a superman punch. MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Pierson.
Round 3: Hecht’s corner tells him to dictate the pace this round and to throw kicks. Hecht misses with a high kick to start the round. He works for a single leg and finishes it. Pierson works a butterfly guard. Before long, the referee stands them up. Hecht presses forward with a combination. Hecht works for a takedown. Pierson fends it off and separates. Hecht continues to try to land a right high kick but it isn’t there. Hecht is dictating the pace this round while Pierson is content to try and counter. Hecht ties him up and presses him against the cage. He lands a solid knee to the body. Pierson turns and separates. Pierson lands a straight left hand. MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Hecht.
The judges score it for Pierson by unanimous decision. All three scorecards read 29-28.
